Hey everyone. So i just picked up the sx mini m-class today and I'm trying to find a good sub-ohm tank with tc coils.
I was leaning more towards the Matrix with the ni-200 coils, or the subtank mini v2 with ni-200 coils, but I'm still not sure what to go with. I've also heard good things about the Herakles and smok TCT. Any suggestions of what tank to get for tc?
Btw the sx-mini m class is the best device I have owned and is worth every penny!

Hey Zack, I'm pretty new to temp control myself (about 2 months) using this IPV4. So far I have used the Kanger subtank with Kanger's Nickel coils, Atlantis 2 with Vaporshark nickel coils and the Smok TCT with Smok's nickel coils. My favorite is hands down the Smok TCT. Great flavor, nice vapor production and the coils last a couple of weeks! And it's pretty inexpensive, I got a 5 pack of the coils for 12 bucks and the tank was like 23 and change. A reviewer named Vapin' Heathen (look him up on YouTube) actually compared the Smok tank to the Matrix and said they are about the same but the Smok was better and cheaper. I've never tried the matrix so I can't say. Nice mod you got, I would go with the Smok TCT.

Thanks so much for the feedback. As I did more and more research, I found that the subtank nickel coils were very inconsistent/not good. With the herakles, matrix, and smok tct, the feedback was good. I guess its time to narrow it down haha I was starting to lean more toward the smok tct or herakles after the reviews I saw.

There is the Freemax Starre Pro that's recently came out as well.

The Freemax Starre is one of the very best subohm tanks on the market and the Starre Pro added top fill and nickel coils. Unlike the other tanks the Starre Pro is sold as a temperature control subohm tank, to the point where it does not come with kanthal coils at all. The coils are compatible with the original Starre, so if you ever want to use kanthal coils you can, but they do not come with the tank.

I too am shopping around for a TC tank. I am thinking about getting the new eleaf TC 40 watt. Do you think the Smok TCT would be a good match with the eleaf tc? Thanks.
I would think that the eleaf TC 40 would be a tad underpowered. In my opinion, if you want a great TC mod that is very compact, look at the Sigelei 75.

I saw that and it has everything I want in a tank, but for me the tank design is n't appealing. At this point I'm really leaning towards the black Herakles. Do you know anyone who has the nickel herakles coils who can give their opinion?

some choices you can check out
1. Smok TFV4 - they will have ni200 coils for it soon, but for the meantime you can use their quadruple coils or their humongous RBA deck (biggest i've seen) to build nickel builds
2. Freemax Starre Pro - 0.15 ni200 coils can come with it, remember to buy a 5 pack
3. uwell crown - people rave about this tank, but it looks like another freemax starre to me, they will have ni200 coils as well

Rourke, I've not tried the 40 watt I Stick yet so I can't really say. But, for me my ideal setting on these Smok TCT nickel coils has been 42 joules at 475 degrees F. Joules I'm told is the same as watts so that mod may not be quite enough for it, but it could work. I'd say it's worth a shot too bad it's hard to try before you buy. From a cost perspective tho it would definitely be an affordable combo to get started in temp control with.

Although you set the Watts/Joules to 42, you may well be vaping at a significantly lower wattage for most of the time, due to the self regulating nature of TC (it's kind of the whole point).

42 Joules may be optimum on your setup for a quick ramp up, but I'd be interested to know what the average watts/joules are whilst vaping with the TC kicking in.

I would be too Caterpiller. This an original IPV4 I am using so it's tough to tell. I am planning on getting the DNA200 in a couple of months, will that give more detail/accuracy? As a sidebar- The Crown with its nickel could is a great temperature control experience as well, 50j 450f. I don't know which is better between that and the TCT as the Vape is different but they are both recommendable.
