I am new to the forum so I can only post to the New Members Forum. This should most certainly be posted within the Technical Issues board, I know - my bad...

I have an authentic Smoketech Magneto II mechanical mod that I purchased about 2 weeks ago. At first, I loved it. I was able to try sub ohm builds and the look of a mech always appealed to me...

Well, about a week ago, I noticed that the button was beginning to get finicky and would even occasionally get very hot. It is almost as if the button is "sticky" and doesn't push straight up, it drags along one of the walls inside. When you do manage to push it straight in, it doesn't fire, like it isn't even touching the other part of the switch.

I tried to record a quick video of what's happening and posted it to YouTube. I am not allowed to post links but the video ID is: watch?v=1FIffVIeymk I apologize that the video is dark, but it needed to be, so that you can see the sparks.

Naturally, I dissassembled the unit to the best of my ability, boiled it in water, dried and reassembled (thinking it may just need a good cleaning)., No dice. This puppy is now arcing, shocking and burning the $&!# out of my finger.

I've tried several batteries, cleaned all surfaces with canned-air and a pencil eraser - no luck. I even stopped by my local AltSmoke and had one of their gurus take a look (thanks AltSmoke). Even he didn't know what to do.

I sent an email out to info[at]smoketech[dot]com hoping to get some manufacturer support. That was 2 days ago and still nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions or perhaps a better way of reaching out to the manufacturer to get a replacement issued?

Thanks everyone!

boiled the mod?? Really?? I prefer a tooth brush, paste, and water pic. Hmm, view the vid, not much help, cept ya got a short for sure. Is the firing pin tight??? Only thing I can imagine is the contact pin being lose, allowing for a short to occur from side slop in the switch housing. Got crap in the house, loose connections or something like that.

A more instructive vid would of been of the switch housing break down, assembly and procedure's used. Something's out of whack for it to short like that.

If you take off the bottom, check the part where the magnet is on the inside and the brass looking part with 2 slots does sometimes come undone and needs to be tightened. Make sure all contacts look clean. I have run mine at .4 no problems and gave had it a year. No has been for my KFL in 18350 mode for running around.
