Recently I'd noticed some pretty bad brown staining along my gum line and was afraid e cigs were causing it. I had searched for anyone else having this problem but didn't find anything so I was stumped because I've been brushing like crazy and using tons of mouthwash. I was also loosing taste and also blamed the e cigs...

Well. I'd been using Crest Pro Health mouthwash at the advise of my dental hygienist, stuff burns like CRAZY but I diligently used it once or twice a day. No pain no gain right?

I've been totally stumped by this staining so on a hunch, I googled CPH mouthwash. Guess what? IT CAUSES BROWN STAINING. Not only that, it also causes loss of taste! I was blaming everything on my vaping and now I find out it was my stinkin MOUTHWASH. I'm. Just. LIVID.

If you want to read more about it, google "crest pro health complaints" and that will tell you all you need to know. And I saw complaints from way back in 2007 and this stuff is still on the market??? WTF is that about???

So I wanted everyone to know about this problem incase you or anyone you know uses this mouthwash. If so, FLUSH IT.

(Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, feel free to move it but I wanted to alert others to this.)

Holy Hanna!!! That is why I can sometimes taste my juice better than other times. I don't use my CPH every day like recommended, but come to think of it my sense of taste is degraded a little when I do. I always attributed it to the fact that I smoked for 22 years and it would take time for everything to straighten itself out.

Thank you very much for the tip Woolgrower

Stick to Listerine? Haven't had any problems with .... WAIT, this is a vaping forum.

And the reason I posted it HERE is because I've seen multiple people complain about mouth issues and loss of taste. Yes some of that is smoke related but maybe not all as in my and Devonmoonshire's case.

If it doesn't apply to you, great but that doesn't mean the information might not apply to others on this forum.

A lot of dental products, especially those containing flouride (ada approved!) I think are very bad for your teeth. I use tom's flouride free - whenever I did use flouride it made my teeth feel sensitive. There's a lot of conspiracy behind it. Our water supply PUMPED with it. Do some research, very interesting stuff.

As for mouthwash, I use biotine. It contains enzymes found in saliva. Having a dry mouth is a cause for bad breath, and other mouth problems I'm sure. I'm no expert, but it makes sense that alcohol based mouthwash will freshen ur breath but kill ur natural enzymes. So u have to keep using more and more.

Sometimes I think some products are meant to show short term results so ur teeth look nice directly after but in the long term actually do damage so naturally u have to keep buying and buying $$$
