Been using a spring + blue foam mod on all my carts lately, and they vape like a dream. Been getting awesome vapor and can vape a cart down to the last drop before I get that dry atty taste.

But just now, while vaping Strawberry + Chocolate (which I've used before with no problem) I suddenly started getting a really disgusting, sickly sweet burnt taste. This is NOT the taste of a dry atty, it tastes almost like the strawberry juice is being burnt rather than vaporized. I figured maybe the blue foam had gotten stuck to the atomizer and burnt, but there's no signs of damage to the foam, and it was still soaking wet. The atomizer is still producing tons of vapor (been at it a week, the other atomizer I got with my 510 starter kit was basically doa, takes 3 puffs before it even gets hot enough to produce any significant vapor, and it draws way too easy, too much airflow).

Any ideas what caused this sickly sweet, burnt taste? It's not a dry atty - if that's your answer (as it seems the answer is in every other thread about burnt taste) don't bother, because that's not it. A fiber of blue foam stuck to atomizer and burning? juice burning somehow? (I don't have anything but a bum atty to compare it to, but the atomizer that now has this burnt taste always seemed to burn awfully hot and really kill the flavor of the juice quite a bit, but this may be normal)

Any info/suggestions are welcome (except for "dry atty" claims :D). Trying to clean the atty in Crest Pro Health mouthwash at the moment, as hot water did nothing to remove the taste/smell. If the mouthwash doesn't remove it I'll junk the atty, cuz there's no way in hell I can use it as is.

I think you're on the right track. The sickly sweet has to be build up on the coil, metal mesh or the wicking around those. I don't do mouthwash - it's sickly sweet to me ;-) or water because it can take too long to dry, but use a 151 vodka which dissolves the build ups (clear vodka turning yellow tells me that) and dries really quickly, plus pure grain alcohol is used in making some of the flavors we vape. But if you don't have any vodka, keep doing what you're doing, just make sure if you use water, that it's totally dry before firing up.

*UPDATE* I didn't notice anything floating in the Crest Pro-Health mouthwash, but I did notice that the color changed to more of a green color. I changed the mouthwash 3 times, and after the 3rd time (each time I let it sit for about an hour) I rinsed in hot water and then used a can of compressed air to remove the water and dry it. Re-primed the atty with cappucino juice from myfreedomsmokes (since it's the least sweet juice I have), and began puffing away. Had a bit of residual minty taste from the mouthwash, and I think still had a bit of the weird burnt taste (maybe I was just dwelling on how bad the taste had been before tho).

After vaping on it for a bit, it's tasting great again! The mouthwash definitely removed the the terrible taste and smell, and the residual taste was gone very quickly (and was not bad at all, and added some throat hit too :D). Also, the atty doesn't seem to be burning nearly as hot as it had been, although it's producing great vapor still. Before, 3 drags in a few seconds and the atty would be too hot to touch with my lip (that's how I test the heat), but now it's only warm after 3.

So, for Crest Pro Health Mouthwash for cleaning atties, just let them soak for a while, rinse with hot water, and blow dry onto paper towel with compressed air.

Did ja clean the blue foam ???

Rinse with tap water and a bit of dish soap - let air dry

Made a lot of difference for me....

It was cleaned before I cut it and put it into the cart, and it was a fresh piece of foam, I had just made the cart. Using a horizontal spring at the lip inside the cart, and just a blue foam plug. Can fit 15-16 drops up to the top of the spring, and vape it completely dry before I get any dry atty taste.
