So I've got a Vision branded clearo and it's worked just fine for 6 weeks or so. But recently its started leaking like all down the ego I put it on for use at work. I don't think it is leaking into the center tube because the connection there is dry.

I've taken it all apart and inspected everything. I can't figure out what is going on here and have hypothesized that the bottom threading could be the culprit.

Can I just plumber's teflon type tape to wrap these threads or is that a bad idea?

As long as none of that tape is exposed to the inside of the tank there shouldn't be an issue. Teflon tape is used to wrap threads in drinking water taps, but no idea what would happen if it comes in contact with PG/VG or whatever is in the flavourings of your liquid.

It's also used in natural gas fittings.

It should be Ok. Just make sure you follow the threads. This is a problem for left-handers, who always want to do things backwards. With tef tape, the results are usually disappointing.

I suspect the problem is somewhere else above the eGo threading. There's a dead grommet or damaged o-ring somewhere that is no longer doing its job and needs replacing.

I did this with a mini Vivi Nova I had, worked perfectly.

Non stick pans are made with teflon. So, I'd think if it can handle 900 degrees fahrenheit, it can handle some PG/VG. Don't quote me on this, but I believe it stands to reason...
Mmmmm... close. ;-)

The typical white hardware store Teflon tape, if it's a good quality - brand name product, will usually meet Military Specification MIL-T-27730A and would have a temperature operating range of -212°F - 500°F. If it's cheap Chinese knock-off stuff with no rating... not a clue.

Yeah, but the stuff in non-stick pans is different from the tape. It should still be Ok, but I still don't think it'll solve the real problem.

I don't know what temp the rating is, I was just making a point. If teflon can stand my habanero riddled curry, or blackened asparagus, then I'd HOPE it's stand a chance again some e-liquid. ;-)
