Tell me if what I am looking to buy is reasonable?

First a little backstory - I've been vaping for a couple weeks now. A friend gave me an ego-t with a 2.5 ml clearomizer with a top coil and a bottle of menthol juice. It has worked pretty well for my intro to a real e cig (I did the Njoy thing off and on for a month or so - too expensive). I think my ego-t is a knock-off, but it has worked pretty well. Now I think I need to replace the coil and wicks because I'm just not getting a decent hit. There is no local place to buy replacement parts and I'm more comfortable talking with someone face to face about what I need to keep this one going as a backup.
I've done hours of research online, and think a genuine Joyetech ego twist with a larger battery, a low resistance top coil with long wicks in a 2.5 to 3 ml tank would be a logical next step. I understand how to use that and it shouldn't be much $$. Does anyone out there have an opinion on whether this purchase makes sense or not? Thanks in advance!
PS: Is the clearomizer I described called a Vivinova style?

I would highly recommend a bottom coil like an EVOD or Protank
I never use my top coil rigs since I got the evod

The vivi novas are a little old school at this point. They work OK, but top coil clearomizers have fallen from favor among us vapors. They just don't wick real well when the juice level gets low. I would look at the pro tank mini. The coils are at the bottom, so gravity helps with the wicking and you can use all the juice in the tank before refilling.

Another benefit, they are rebuildable if you ever decide you want to try that.

Nate, for just a little more money than the Joyetech twist and a separate tank, you could get the hottest thing going these days, an MVP 2. It's an amazing little device, provides wonderful flavor, lots of vapor, and the battery life is not to be believed. You can go for 2 days without charging, and it's even capable of charging your cell phone.

I had a couple of Vision Spinners, similar to the twist you're talking about, and when I got my MVP 2 there was no comparison.

It usually comes with a clearomizer, but any ego threaded tank will work with it. Here is a link to a reliable seller on ebay who has it at a great price with free shipping:

I would agree with the mini protank recommendation. Especially if you are using a menthol juice. Menthols are not very kind to the plastic tanks.

It is possible that your coil needs to be cleaned if you've been using it for a couple of weeks...have you tried that?

A larger twist or variable voltage battery would be a good choice.

The eGo twist is a good choice. There are a ton of different atomizers and everyone has their own opinions about every one of them. If you've been using the top wick type clearomizers and like them the Vivi Nova is decent. There are bottom wick clearomizers too that you might want to explore too. Make sure you buy enough consumables and also should look into getting back up equipment too. Good luck.

I've heard that the bottom coils have a tendency to clog and gurgle. Has that ever been a problem with y'all? Thanks for the advice

I don't have any problems with clogging, but I use 100% VG juice so I know that I have to regularly clean my coils. I've only had slight gurlgling if things were screwed together tight enough or if I got some juice down the chamber when re-filling.

Clogging has more to do with the juice. Some juices gunk up the coils quicker. It's more of a personal perference, IMO. I think they all gurgle and flood at times. I've had good success with mini Protanks and still use them but others hate them.

I would 2nd the vote on the protank mini they are descent and the coils are cheap if you order them online, if you go with the vision spinner, you can get one in 1300 mah which is pretty good battery of that style, the MVP2 is a EXCELENT choice IMO, and if you decide to go that route I would recommend the Protank2, but I would not recommend using the MVP to charge your phone unless it was an emergency situation, it will make short work of the battery, but there is that option if needed.... Just my .02

I gotta give props to the MVP, if it is in your budget. It is a great device. It has the same USB charge port and I've had the battery go 3 days without charging.

Thank you all for the suggestions. Going to Savannah tomorrow to get a new setup. if I had the $ I would go ahead and get a good mod, but a little short on cash, so might get an ego twist with a 1300 battery. I haven't checked the price on an MVP2 yet but gonna do that now. Definitely gonna get the protank 2 mini and some coils for the top coil tank on my small ego for a backup.
