Every device I own does this and it has to be some error im making across all my different devices when I try temp control. I have my mod set to 580 and it ramps up very rapidly to max and stops making vapor. This mod (espion) with a red panda firmware is supposed to be good at tc and it does the same thing. I set and lock the resistance to cold resistance and 580 seems like more than enough temp to not max out. What is my user error?

580?

Do you mean you have the TC set to 580F?

Cause if you do, it Doesn't seem like you are really using "TC".

Hola,
What is the resistance of the topper?
How many watts are you using?
What is the TC material you are using? (SS/Ni/Ti/Zr)

Cheers

I regularly vape TC using DNA mods, mods flashed with Arctic Fox firmware and a few other misc mods. Also vape wattage mode on about 1/2 my current rotation.

Red Panda and Arctic Fox firmware, both developed by the NFE Team, bring compatible mods TC up to "nearly" the performance of a DNA or YiHi mod.

Main: NFE Team

Forum: NFE Team

I am really curious --- have you asked your question in the NFE forum? If so what did they say? I have a pretty good idea of what a few folks there would say.

How many changes did you make within NFE Tools and then upload to your various mods?

With TC I do not lock the resistance on any of my mods. You do not need to on a DNA mod for example. In fact it is recommended by Evolv that you do not. From my experience you don't need to on a mod flashed with Red Panda or Arctic Fox.

I usually have mine set to between 375°F and 420°F --- AND --- I have never gone higher than 440°F. There is no need to IMHO.

I vape MTL to DL anywhere between 12w to 40w. My coils are usually between 0.3Ω and 0.7Ω. I run ss316L simple round to claptons with TC.

No one that I know vapes anywhere near 580°F. Zero, zip, zilch, nada. There is no valid reason - that I know of - to run that high in TC mode.

Don't take this the wrong way but my initial reaction was --- what the chuck. Reckon my facial expression looked like so, o_O.

Looked up vaping the 'alternative' stuff and even those don't require anything over 410°F (356°F to 374°F seems to be the norm).

For crying out loud, 580°F is higher than an oven set to broil!!! Oven broiling temps are around 550°F. No one needs to broil their juice.

I'm with Izan and zoiDman on this. :D

We need much more info. Until then good luck friend.

From the sounds of it, it sounds like you may have a hot spot on your coil and it's kicking you out of TC. As others have already stated, we need to know if your using a TC capable wire like SS, Ni or Ti, and if not this will also cause your mod to jump out of TC and go to wattage mode. As vaper1960 stated, try using wattage mode first 25-30 watt working up until you get a good vape. Only make sure of you wire type first. Kanthal and SS will work in wattage mode. Let us now some more info.

.110 ohm
80 watts
dual coil 316l ss 22g spaced coil

Ive tried locking and unlocking the coil. At 450 temp I get barely any vapor and just plain 80 watts non TC is way better.

I think your running towards the limit of your TC Mod as for resistance levels.
I ran your numbers against Steam Engine and you are running kind of cold heat flux wise with that coil setup. Also it takes a lot to heat up each coil and they retain their heat (22g wire) and that also may be messing with TC.

Try a single coil:
22g 316L spaced at about .25 ohm at a 2.5-3.0mm ID which is about 8-9 wraps.
Start your wattage at about 40 watts
Start your temp at about 380F and work up

These are guesses to help w/your TC not knowing what specific mod your using TC on. I'm no expert by any means, just trying to help.

Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

Good place to go to spec out some wire wrap possibilities.

Good luck
