Considering TC allows us to take longer, casual pulls without constant concern for when the dry is gonna kick in... I've always been skeptical of that claim in the real world application.

Or is that just me ;)

As Dave said, it depends on how it's set up. If someone is vaping in TC mode at a wire temp that requires less power than what they would normally set in VW mode with the same build, they will get longer battery life. I think a lot of people don't understand that.

Wow, I'm not sure how best to correct you other than to suggest... when you practice "reading for comprehension", don't neglect the previously quoted bits.

*hint: Read closely what I quoted; my reply; and the first three sentences of Dave's response.

eta: At first I was annoyed, but now I'm amused waiting to see if and when the penny drops. :D

As for pennies, figuring recharging our vape batteries on average to 2,500 mAh, and my cost of roughly $0.10 a kWh (goes up to about $0.20 in the summer, yay electric spot market pricing) I doubt the improvement in battery life would run you even a few pennies in savings. Then again my electric costs might be higher than yours, so as always, YMMV.[emoji108]

No it's certainly about extending the time between batt swaps for out-and-about vapers, which I'm not, so I really don't care about a fractional increase... a substantial decrease on the other hand, that would concern even me. :D

As for costs... yeah, our batteries and their cycles and longevity make them an astonishingly inexpensive value.
Pretty much everything about vaping (barring some chic-chic hardware) is damned cheap compared to cigs. And I'm one of those ex-rollie smokers who's actually paying more now. :p

eta: Actually... I've oddly not made a vape purchase in just about a year now.
With it being just my DIY consumption, at maybe 10-15 ml a day, I'd guess I'm back down to the old expenditure territory. ;)

Amortizing all my previous gear costs on the other hand...

I don't know enough about TC to know if your battery life will be extended much, depending on your typical wattage, etc. I think most people using TC, that's like the last factor they consider, it's more about vaping correctly and not overheating your coil, leading to less nasties being inhaled by, you, the user.

Gotta be honest, your attitude isn't very cheerful given you ASKED a question and recieved several responses. Why do you care if somone *liked* your post or not, then answered, even if it wasn't the specific question you THOUGHT you asked? The world doesn't exist to answer everyone's question exactly how they want, at any given specific time. I'm quite certain I may have gone on a non-sequiter from time to time, hell, OFTEN. Just skim past it, don't start a flame war, I don't want your batteries to blow up, longer life or not :(

I don't think you need pennies, or even nickle, to drop :) SS should work *just fine*

They are normally mutually exclusive.
Perhaps the source of confusion is the preheat setting.
Vape in TC mode at your normal temperature setting but set your watts at 2W and get back with me on how mutually exclusive temp settings and Watt settings are :D

Nicest on the Internet?? No, that can't be. Crap, now I have to change my twitter account @realDonaldTrump back into my name. And I was having so much fun with that.

Why on earth would you think that TC would *reduce* your battery life, and even if it did, I can't imagine why you'd think it would do so in any kind of substantial manner? I mean, it's fairly well-known that using wattage only mode your juice will heat up, and not only that, you are vaping at the same wattage rather than allowing TC to take over and cool your juice/wire?

I'd check out this blog, it's spectacular in explaining why TC is a good idea, and when I get around to learning to build, I'm totally going to use it.

Anna, I believe it was about TC increasing battery life by regulating the power and lowering it through the draw, thereby reducing electric consumption. I do believe on a test bench that may be true, but I do doubt it makes enough of a real world difference that if you're a heavy vaper, it will mean not needing a backup set of batteries. At least I think that was what is was about. There are still other good reasons to use TC, but I'm not sure battery consumption leads the pack.
