Hello all - hope you can give me advice.
I am not a regular smoker. I have smoked occasionally in the past socially. I am a recovering alcoholic and smoked alot when I went to treatment 4 years ago.
I have been having serious trouble with my teen that have lead me to smoking to relieve stress (as opposed to resuming drinking). I bought one pack of cigarettes and although they help enormously I hate the smell, hiding the butts etc. from my teen.
Anyway - after one pack I went back to buy another and saw disposabe e-cigs at the gas station. I didn't even know they existed. The Jak brand are $4.99 at my store and claim to last 800 puffs . I don't know what kind of puffs they're talking about but they last me 2-3 days.
I don't plan on smoking permanently, just to get through this tough time (she had a friend committ suicide and is on a 'watch list' for suicide now herself. I won't go into more details.
Anyway - I would like to not keep buying these disposables if there is a cheaper alternative.
I don't want some elaborate set up as I don't plan on smoking for too long, and with an addictive personality, these e-cigs are way too easy to smoke more than I would with regular cigarettes.
Am I better off continuing to buy the disposables or is there a cheap rechargeable kit that I could use for a few months. Good brand recommendations? The internet is full of misinformation. Advice please ?

Hi Vaca. To get you going I would advise you to seek out a simple 510 or 808d kit. The easiest solution would be to head out to walgreens and get yourself a simple Blu(510) kit. This would allow you to have near immediate stock available as well as no large time investment, with very little personalization. They are reasonable priced and fair performers. Otherwise jump over to the forum suppliers area and take a look around. Good Luck with everything.

If you're only an occasional smoker/in means of stress then you may do okay financially just remaining with the disposables.

Otherwise, a good mini might suit you. I don't have an extensive knowledge of minis, but I will recommend the Sidesho by Modern Vapor at ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES: E-Cigs, Vapor Electric Cigarettes, Smokeless E-Juice. It's the same size as a 100 cigarette. Since it's only occasional/temporary, you might want to skip the kits. Just get a battery, charger and a pack of cartomizers. That'll set you back about $35.00 before shipping, and each carto will last about as long as one of those disposables do for you. And you can buy some liquid to refill them with to make them last longer.

I was a 2 pack a day smoker and on the road to becoming an alcoholic before my daughter was born. I can understand those times you just need something. Hope things get better for you and your family.

Good luck.

EDIT: Don't know where you're at in IL, but MV has a shop in Chicago. If that's nearby, you might want to stop in and see how it all works.

To a full time smoker, I would try my hardest to avoid suggesting something like a Blu. However in you situation, I think a Blu starter kit may be exactly what your looking for. If it were me, I would get the Blu 100 starter kit, and go from there. Everything you need should be available locally..... Maybe someone can come along, and give some better advice.
