Ten Years Ago Today...

... I got my first vape stuff in the mail. December 13th, 2013. It was a Friday.

The following day, I joined ECF.

Yet another n00b checking in

Greetings! Been smoking analog cigs for 36 years; mostly light/ultralight; close to 2 packs a day unless I'm spending time in places where I can't smoke, and that's relatively rare. I've only made one serious effort to quit a bunch of years...

So I thought I'd stop back and say, "Hi" and, "Thanks for all the fish!"

Yes, I'm still vaping. Same mods I bought from the artisans who used to ply their wares here. Same MTL atties. Same 12 mg liquids that I weaned myself down to, mostly unflavored, made from nicotine I bought in 2014, although sometime next year I'll probably have to start on the nic I bought in 2015.

Every time I see anything about vaping, it seems to be depressing, bad news. E.g. Australia seems to have gone fully insane. Many vape shops have closed. More and more flavor bans. Most people I run into who vape are using questionable disposables of one sort or another. I ask them how much they cost and all I can do is <SMH>.

Well, I smoked the same cigs for many years at a stretch and only changed 'em when my preferred ones became hard to find or were outright no longer available.

No wait, there was one quit attempt where I ended up switching from menthols to non-menthols because I figured I wouldn't smoke many of those; I mean they tasted like dirt! Guess what happend? Yep, a few weeks later I was back to smoking just as many non-menthols as menthols previously, and I never went back to menthols.

So anyway, I'm perfectly happy with stuff I have. In fact, I don't remember the last time I bought anything vape-related at all. I suppose it must have been a batch of P28A batteries a couple of years ago.

I did the reverse (TO menthol) but didn't last. Marlboro Medium had me by the soul.

Absolutely. Anna ventured outside and ruffled alot of feathers, so much so that new words were added to the 'banned word' list, but she was never banned from outside. She, in that 'inner weirdom' thread posted a white van meme where she added a few words and a moderator name. .................... And that was the end for her.

I once, moons ago, looked at the Outside, and funnily enough it struck me as more inside than the Inside. Bunch of far left folks thinking they're rebels. I once identified as far left until I saw the results of that stuff. Now I'm far nothingness.
I can't recall how to get to the Outside, and would like to revisit. What's the path?

I once, moons ago, looked at the Outside, and funnily enough it struck me as more inside than the Inside. Bunch of far left folks thinking they're rebels. I once identified as far left until I saw the results of that stuff. Now I'm far nothingness.
I can't recall how to get to the Outside, and would like to revisit. What's the path?

I observed much of the same, plus a whole lot of fighting, so it never interested me much.

Being married with a bunch of kids, if I wanted to fight, ECF wouldn't be the place I turned for it. Plus, I got plenty of that growing up on the streets of Stamford, CT. When I came/come to ECF, it is to laugh, not bicker. Life gives me all the bickering I could ever want or need.

That's a long way of saying that I have absolutely no idea how to get there.

Funny how you "know" someone on-line for years, as I've known you, yet know nothing about him. [And I will never say "they"].
Married with a bunch of kids is not anything I would have expected.
And growing up on the streets? I grew up in NYC, and except for a bit of bullying [which we didn't have a name for but was just something we skipped beyond knowing that the guy was a jerk] I don't recall much fighting.
Life is weird.
And, it took you all those words to say you couldn't answer my question. LOL.
I lurk a lot now, cause the fun is gone. Not sure why @Katdarling is about as present as I, but I miss you folks and the fun days.

I remember back in 2014, shortly after the the FDA's "Deeming Regulations" were first proposed, there were a few people here who believed that those regulations would end up banning 99% of vape products on the market. Many (most?) others felt that was an over reaction and fear mongering. I wasn't sure, but I decided I wasn't going to take any chances, so I made myself FDA-proof early on,

I haven't really been paying much attention recently, but I just checked the FDA's site to see what PMTAs they've approved. I count twenty-three, all tobacco-flavored, closed systems from BT or associated companies.

It seems the belief that 99% of vape products would be banned was on the optimistic side?

Surprisingly though, it looks like the two local vape shops I frequented early on are still in business. I might have to check them out, just for old times sake.
