Correct me if I am wrong... but according to the thread named "Smoking Everywhere Vs. FDA Daily Docket Sheet Update" in the E-Cigarette News forum, the sale of e-cigs and their accessories could become illegal in the U.S. in just a matter of days.

I was planning to buy my first PV this weekend. Now I'm almost afraid to, since even I bought it in time, I could possibly face the problem of not being able to find suppliers for attys, batteries, e-juice, etc.

Best case scenario is I could buy a VP2 or something similar where I could use regular rechargeable batteries. Heck, I could even make my own e-juice and carts if worse came to worse. But replacement atomizers could be a real issue. I don't have the funds to buy a boatload of parts in the hopes of lasting a few years until e-cigs get approved by the FDA.

What are your thoughts?

There have been a lot of "the sky is about to fall" threads here since about early April of this year. Please feel free to use the search function, find them, read them, and add to them if you have questions.

That said, I do understand your situation. Here is what history tells us. When something that is generally good (or even neutral or harmful) is banned, there is always an underground and there is always a black market for it.

I would suggest getting some extra attys when you purchase for the short run and also reading and printing how to care for attys and clean them and prolong their lives threads. In addition, there is a thread on rebuilding an atty if you are so inclined.

The thread I am referring to isn't a "the sky is about to fall" thread. It's an actual day-by-day account of the actual court case that the judge is expected to rule on any day now.

I guess I'll wait until the weekend to make a decision. If the ruling hasn't come by then, maybe I'll place an order (with extra atomizers) and hope for the best.

Your thread tells me don't wait. Based on this i just ordered another 2 months worth of cartridges. In fact I may go for a years worth by the weeks end. Do it now bud. If they do in fact ban this i'll be very upset and the political party fronting this issue will never get my vote again.

First, you must not know the US Government very well. Laws sometimes take years to go through. Most of us are stocking up for convenience. If they are banned in years to come, I'll have a good supply while looking for a new source. They'll never go away completely.

Actually, I do know the government well. They don't need to pass a law on this.

If the judge find in favor of the FDA, then it gives them the green light not only to stop the few big shipments coming into the country as they already have, but to immediately ban the sale, distribution, & import of e-cigs, their parts, and their accessories within the US. No law needs to be passed. Then it's up to the e-cig manufacturers to begin testing their product in accordance with FDA rules, in order to get the FDA to approve it. This is a process which can take years and ungodly amounts of money.

You should really read the thread. It's all spelled out there.

Everyone has, quite closely.

That said, there are a number of US manufacturers now, not just distributors. In addition, its relatively easy to get the juice needed, and to mix up your own goodies.

Even better, its pretty easy to make your own, if you've got atomizers.

Beyond that, vaporizers like this have been around in some form for years, some people have been looking at using those atomizers in their own custom rigs.

I sincerely doubt they would ban them, or fully restrict their entry. To me, this reeks of desire for e-cigarettes becoming under the FDA's control, not outright ban.

And I agree.

My concern is that we may see them turned into something they want them to be.

1) Taxes on the juice to an extent that would make you want to puke
2) Only prefilled and approved cartridges allowed so as to assure what is in them
3) Low nicotine levels that will not help many people stop smoking real cigarettes
4) Available by prescription only so the drug companies can get their cut too

This is the goldmine they would be shooting for, in my opinion.

Ok I was going to separate all three, but its the same reply for each :)

This is a BS turf war, foot in the sand, "I was just given rights over tobacco and I want to see how far I can go" statement.

Want to keep everything as is? Email Senators. Write letters. Make phone calls. Request information.

Cry into the camera about how electronic cigarettes have saved your life, and the FDA is trying to murder you.

Cry into the camera about how the FDA wants your children to grow up without parents.

And show up whenever you can to anything you can with regards to e-cigs. Make the FDA look bad for trying to kill you. After all, Saddam tried to kill W's daddy, na' mean?

This is exactly the approach I am taking, and I hope others are doing the same.

My tactics are to Digg all articles that come out in favor of electronic cigarettes.
Add comments to those Diggs as well.
And write letters to anyone who might give a crap.

Oh, yeah, and spread the word on the street, one person at a time.

My take on this: IF the FDA wanted to completely ban PV's they would have done so already. Not this dancing around, kinda-sorta-well-we-think-it's-bad-but-really-don't-know indicision. They HAVE the authority to clamp down on imports - HARD. Then let the courts settle it after the dust settles.

There's something else driving this, something we poor, in the dark consumers haven't seen yet. But it's coming.

Bah, I'll just resort to making juice by snus.

But I expect to be 0mg (or completely nic free) by the time this comes to a head (I think its going to be a while.... alot longer than others, probably.)

I dont think getting parts sent to you will be a problem if they are outlawed.

My friend just had several butterfly and fully automatic switchblades shipped to his door from china with no problem. Both are completely illegal in michigan.
Of course, they need to stay inside or that would cause a problem.

So if you don't mind only vaping behind closed doors, there should not be an issue.
