I switched over to a 510 from the Greensmoke ecigs I had been using, but lately I've been having major issues with vapor production, or rather lack thereof. I've actually taken to refilling the greensmoke cartos with better e-juice.

I've tried cleaning the attys several different ways, including the full blown "grand cleaning" using alcohol, and letting them try for 24 hours, but vapor production is still pathetic. Is it just time for new atomizers? I've been using these for about a month.

Additionally, battery life has gone WAY downhill, to the point where I can't count on them to last through a 45 minute car-ride.

Does using a 510 just require constantly replacing attomizers and batteries to maintain decent function?

Is there another kinda of unit that is more reliable?

i have been using the same 510 attys for more than a few months. i tend to use one almost every day and chain vape it.
i would put the blame on the battery, and or the connectors.

first try this, clean the contacts on the atty and the battery.

for the atty clean them with just a shirt or something fabric. nothing over kill just rub the threads.
for the battery use a DRY qtip and go clock-wise on it. then use the other side and do it again.

drain the battery totally, clean it again, charge it, clean it, vape.
see if that changes anything.

the problem is that the copper oxidizes, like a penny, giving a crappy connection. juice also can build up in the threads. now if the combo of the two build up on the battery and charger then you arent getting a good charge/connection.

I'll try giving the contacts another cleaning.

You may be right on the battery issue. My passthrough was producing better vapor, and it just died, so I've been stuck with batteries while I try to troubleshoot it.

yup, 510 atties work on the ego

I am a 510 and KR8 user, but I jst tried someone's Ego and I loved it. I ordered one. I have been having the same issues with my 510 - it just isn't kicking as much as it used to (which only lasted about 2-3 weeks). I have started using my KR8 as a result, but am an avid user of my cheapo PT when near my computer. The Ego was comparable to my PT experience.

Wow dunno what the story is there i cant keep the clouds of vapor outta my face from my 510, thing is a champ.

I just ordeded a complete double ego kit, but it was only a treat for myself.
I know the 510 batts have abad rep. but 45min. car ride?

Are u chain vaping? my 510 batt. will last me good part of a day and i Vapeon and off allday, not heavy but not light.

Good luck Groc hope all works out

What filler do you use in your carts? I wonder if I'm not having a wicking issue....

Yeah, I do vape pretty heavily. Not chain, but heavily.

I actually used what came in my empty carts, the reg. factory poly. Read up in here tryin to figure out what i could use that would make the whicking better sooooo 1st i tried the teabag method..

Seemed to clump all up in my cart, i kinda thought of it as if u took a roll of paper towels and poured a bucket of water over it all those layers sticking 2gether would create no flow, just a mass.

2nd... i tried wal-mart poly- fil, seemed to give me aheadache plus i think it was burning the hairs. ( says its resin coated also)

Sooo now im back to usin the org. batting that came with my empty carts.

I tried to find sum Fluval at the petstore but the guy told me "fluval" was a type of pysical filter and not a fabric.

So im still kinda at a loss with this one m8. ill keep u updated if i find somthing that blows my mind, but in the meantime the factory poly wicks the best of what ive got. ~Capn~

I tried thoroughly cleaning all of the contacts on both the batteries and on the attys, and one of the two atomizers seems to be vaping MUCH better now. I'm not sure if it's quite as good as new, but it provides good flavor, good throat hit, and good volume.

The other is still under-performing.

Is it possible that I left some sort of residue on it from the "grand cleaning"? I gave it a bath in white vinegar for about 15 minutes to free up any oxidized metal and dissolve any junk, then rinsed with water, blew it out to get all the water out, and then swirled it in some 99% isopropyl alcohol for about 15 seconds, before blowing it dry with the 5hp force-dryer my GF uses for dog grooming. I then let it sit for 24 hours in a dry spot.

Could any of this have caused issues with the coils, or the wick? I could try cleaning it out again, in case there was a bit of water left in the wick somehow, but I don't see how that could happen.

It could have but it might just be on its last legs tbh.
Ive had atties last me 4 months plus, and a couple that died in 2 weeks. They aren't consistent, but in my view as long as they last a week or more they are still cheaper than a carton of smokes (a pack of 3 Joye510 atties costs me around $25, thats cheaper than a carton which was gone in a week)
In all honesty I dont spend hours fussing with mine, they are cheap and disposable like lighters, and if they stop working and a blow out and dry burn doesn't help them, I toss 'em out. I always have backups, so that helps lol.

could be dieing
could need broke in
could just be under par when coiled

i noticed that after using mine for a while that they worked a lot better.
also i dont really clean mine out as if i am trying to make it sparkle.
drop it in hot water till the water is cold and then run hot water threw it from the tap.
blow threw the top using my mouth and then place it behind the xbox and kill the hopes and dreams of anyone on call of duty modern warfare 2 for a few hrs. the heat my xbox pumps out is about the same as a wood stove or med-large camp fire, lol. next morning it's dry and i drop in three drops of w/e i'm going to vape. make some coffee, check facebook and then vape.

if you are going to clean one, i would advise only using one chemical. no idea what both of those might do together in the long term. or you could do like i do and just use water. this whole craze with super cleaning something just kind of seems, excessive.

My SLB 510 is a week old today. On the horrible Chinese MadV marl pg e-juice it made big clouds of vapor. On the VG it is less cloudy, but still good.

It is not the best unit. One of the batteries has a bad button, and both attys had become hard to draw through. Holding the atty under very hot water with a clothes pin and blowing it out worked good. The burn off helped too. Between the two it isn't too big of a deal.

Since the PG based juice made me sick, I am on the VG. It is delicious with a little less vapor, but hard on plugging attys. It could be my fault for recycling the carts with the bad PG juice. This week instead of my carton of cigs I am off to buy bigger batteries and some slightly lower resistance cartomizers instead of the present atomizers. This time I will try Boge or Joye.
