That would be nice. I don't see it happening any time soon though unless some suppliers are just that confident in their product that they'll take the first step. I know if I could try that $129 mod before I spend the $$$ to purchase it I'd be more likely to invest. All they'd have to do is get your credit card info before it's sent and charge the rental fee, and if it's not returned within 30 days or so charge the full purchase price.

What would the suppliers do with the hardward which was returned? Would warranties still be in effect if you purchased something someone already used and returned? Sell it as used? Would they test every piece coming back to make sure it still works...get the picture? Sterilizing and making sure all handward is clean and free of any gaumboo someone might have had? Will never happen.
A vape meet up would be the place to do it, and even then some may hesitate having someone else handle their equipment.

Pretty much anyone who is in the market for a mod is going to have their own atty or carto so that wouldn't be an issue. I would think the PV body, batt's and charger could just be wiped down or disinfected, and it's not that hard to test a PV to make sure it works properly on return. The seller could make it a non-warranted item if they chose to. They could even stamp or engrave that right on the PV. Or, they could cover it as they would a new one if they wanted, in the event it wasn't returned and the customer was charged for it. If they had a couple of loaners to use in this manner it would surely simplify things for buyers, and probably lead to sales for the manufacturer.

I like you cskent...that's what I was thinking. There's a site that rents Lady's Purses..some of which cost thousands of dollars and that business is booming. Gucci, Pradas...etc. I would be the first to sign up ...kind of like Netflicks!!! Lease a Piece (PV).
Glad a few are responding to my post!!
For a fee...not a high one, every 2 weeks or so you get to rotate the models. Some of which would be purchased outright.

What would one charge for a Netflix-type service?

Better question: What would we be willing to pay? I'd be down for a $15/month pricetag. The only issue I see is shipping costs for the supplier. Although knowing that Netflix ships 1st class USPS, there would be a delay between order and delivery (more than we're used to now)... so stalking the mailman would just get even more out of control. ;)

The only problem I see is do you really want to purchase a PV that has been used by several other people at the price of a new one. Because I don't see them sending out new units for people to use. If it gets scratched, dented, I am guessing you would be forced to buy it. Plus there is people out there that may not return it. The only way I see a company doing this is if they charge you full price then when you return it refund minus restocking fee. Which some companys already do this. Some right now will let you return your pv with out a charge if you are not satisfied. In a way I guess some already offer this.

Rent a Center..rents beds,sofa's..water coolers..on a monthly basis. No one is saying you have to buy anything we're browsing.
I lease my cars. When my term ends it goes back to the dealer...someone else gets it. If they can do it with 3,000.00 Pradas
they can do it with a Mod or PV...resell as lightly used. Liquidators do it all the time. One Journeyman, for example tried by several people would already pay for the initial price. This could be done in a 1-4 week arrangement. If it caught on companies would have to be competitive...this is where we win.

The biggest problem is market share. Cars have a much bigger market than PVs, as do TVs, etc. And I don't see market share growing enough in the PV market. The PV market share will never reach the level that analogs did in their heyday, and that is about where it would have to be for this to work profitably.

Now, if a group wanted to start a club that shared PVs, that could work.

Agree, plus most of the compaines selling mods are small shops. Look at most of the top mods out there. They can't even keep up with the demand right now.
