To me, vaping is an absolute miracle. It allowed me to walk away from a habit that would have eventually killed me. I smoked for 30 years. I never tried to quit because I was afraid that I would fail. I have seen many friends, relatives, and acquaintances attempt to quit and fail. As a result, they seemed to become even more disturbed by the fact that they were unable to do so. Failed attempts confirm the fact that one is indeed, hopelessly locked into a habit that will kill them.

Over the summer, two of my best friends informed me that they had quit smoking by switching to vaping. Both told me stories of easier breathing, more energy, and overall improved health. One of them always had a deep, hacking cough that always caused me great concern (even though I had my own smokers cough that bothered me). Based on their recommendations and my wife's (of 7 months) request that I try to quit with her, I bought my starter kit. Five short days later, I smoked my last analog. This miracle invention allowed me to more or less "forget" that I smoked in just 5 days. Even more amazing is the fact that I had easy access to, and in many cases, was sitting right next to a partial pack of cigarettes the whole time. I ended up throwing them away after looking at them for a few weeks. Name one other stop smoking program that would work well enough to make you not want to smoke cigarettes that were within arms reach the entire time. I challenge anyone to find another smoking cessation plan that in addition to helping one quit in a very short time frame, causes one to no longer like to smoke. The last real cigarette I smoked tasted like hell. I only managed to take 3 or 4 drags off of it. I remember looking at it before I snuffed it out thinking to myself, "This no longer satisfies me. There is no butterscotch, green apple, no deliciousness, just blech. Let me put this thing out and go get my PV". That memory pops into y head every time that I see, smell, or watch people smoke. I am completely turned off by it.

I look forward to a life free from the ball and chain that is smoking. For as long as vaping supplies are available, I know that I will never need to shove another cigarette in my mouth ever again.

My only real concerns at this point in time lies with the state and federal governments. They seem determined to limit access to, or make it financially painful to continue using this life saving alternative. They have the ability, and apparently the desire, to keep the citizens of this country hostage to an industry that they claim to be against.

I also want to wish everyone on ECF a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! (For the athiests amongst us, have a wonderful day.) Having the support of so many others who have already, or are currently following the same path as I is extremely valueable to me. All of the stories of success, and of overcoming the inevitable setbacks, keep the light at the end of the tunnel shining brightly. Together, we can do this... Y'all are da bomb!

I know that I can quit smoking without vaping. I've done it half a dozen times. But six months, maybe a year later, I start again. I enjoy smoking. I like the ritual of going outside, taking a break, using it to escape awkward situations or break up work-related monotony.

I've been vaping for about 3 months now. After almost 2 months, my one and only battery broke and I didn't have any money to replace it for almost 2 weeks. If you've ever been a dirt poor smoker, you know how to do it for free. But the second I got a few dollars, I ordered the cheapest US battery I could find (to get it faster) and a couple egos from FT (not here yet).

I learned a valuable lesson, and now I definitely fall into the first group. I can't do it all at once - my disability check is only rent + $100/mo, so everything has to be budgeted down to the penny, but that's a whole other story... Anyway, I want to get reliable, rebuildable gear that will last and a stock of nic juice so I won't ever run out again. I'm not interested in collecting all the newest and fanciest gear. I just want 1 setup that will last me till the zombies eat my brains. :)

I vape for the nicotine. But I also enjoy the rituals of smoking so vaping has satisfied me in that area. I guess my practices are more like someone who smokes a pipe. I like to rebuild my own coils just for the control over the coil & ability to have a clean vape where I can actually enjoy the juice I'm vaping. It's something I do more at home than out so the equipment I have for going out is specifically picked to be stealth, low maintenance & disposable. But for my home stuff I want nicer quality mechanicals, drippers & tanks because I want reliability & control over my vape. HST, I probably won't ever get a large collection simply because I don't feel like we'll get to vape like we are now indefinitely & I don't want to waste money on stuff I won't get to use. So I stick with my cheaper stuff & replace things with higher quality items when I find something I know I'll like using.

who's gonna stop us, I have researched a bit on the sustainability of the resources we all need to keep vaping and there is no sighn of shortage , including freebase nicotine, vegitable glycerin propylene glycol, the flavors are a bonus and always there will be some, the method of vaping the juice is solid to, also there is other ways to vape you would not rely need electricity. as far as law ...lol. perhaps some think the goverment will somehow "pull a nixon" (referring to the ......... incident in wich lies were rudiment in keeping something down because it could not be patented and sold for huge profit like say chantix is) not likely because people in general are alot more aware of these scams , I rely think it is safe to say the vape movement is here to stay.

in answer to the thread topic . I vape as a safer way to get nicotine , and am well into the hobby side of it. plan on vaping 4 life. :)
