Greetings

I'm going to try a blind test on the cream flavoring I have. I'm a newbie and have only had success on making lemonade, and with that I had to increase the percentage from 10 to 12.
I really dont know where to begin. I can realy use some of your experience here. I want to make about 5 ml of each. I have 13 flavors, so here they are:

1. Vanilla whipped cream (Cap)
2. Bavarian cream (Cap)
3. Whipped cream (TFA)
4. Sweet Cream (Cap)
5. Irish cream (the vape mall)
6. DX Sweet cream (TFA)
7. DX Sweet cream (Signature ecig-express)
8. Whipped cream (FW)
9. Vienna cream (FA)
10. Whipped cream (FA)
11. Catalan cream (FA)
12. Cream (Flavorh)
13. Fresh cream (FA)

Should I sart at 10% ? Or maybe 12? I've been reading, reading, reading. I want to do something! What do ya'll think?

Any experience, opinions, ideas welcome...like I said before....NEWBIE here :)

I dis the same thing, only with less choices. I took the name and discerned a bit by that. Different countries/regions make cream, in a traditional sense, differently.

Some are tough, though. I am not sure how "fresh" cream is different than some of the others.

I would look for one that has a sweeter taste...to you. It will be helpful in not having to bother with a plain sweetener. Vienna Cream is sweeter to me, but I don't have all that you have.

Another way to see it is which cream is creamy, but not sweet? Say, for Strawberries and Cream, the strawberries are to sweet and you want creamy but not sweet. Just another thought.

A lot of it is decided by your taste buds, but look at the definition of Bavarian or Catalan Cream and see what it says.

Good luck!

Imo FA flavors are pretty darn strong. Even 2% may be too much after steeping. Fresh cream is a decent add in but 1% or less for me. Vienna cream 2% or less.

Steeping times will make a big difference here. 2-3 weeks not unusual for best results. No big deal deal to shake and vape but the flavors will mature in an interesting, sometimes unexpected way.

The previous statements are opinion only. Good experiment BTW, probably worth taking notes on the results.

Wait a minute , so your saying you just want to taste the differences between them so you can decide which one would work in certain recipes or are you meaning an all cream recipe ?

FA Fresh Cream is my favorite but it's an addition not a main flavor. Vienna Cream is superb and is a solid single flavor vape , Bavarian Cream is also widely popular.

So after reading you decided you need to do something huh , i suppose doing something would be OK .

I would mix up some Bavarian cream & Vienna cream out of those choices .

What I want to do is number the bottles 1 to 13 and have a key so I know which is which. I want to see which ones I like best (as a base or stand-alone) and if I need to increase the flavor % or take some away. This may sound silly, but I dont want a psychological sway to my like or dislike of the flavors just by seeing which brand it is. <--- This statement is silly, I will just trust my taste buds!

In the future, say I'm not happy with Capella's Bavarian Cream, I want to get other brands to see if I'll like them better. Can't afford to be buying every flavor I see, only in my dreams. So I'll have to try and pawn off things I don't like to friends whom might like them LOL

Taste buds are sensitive, one day I'll love a juice and the next day it just doesn't do it for me. I learned not to pitch or pawn off juices when I'm not crazy about them on first try. Because tomorrow I'll love it. This happens all the time.

For me, it is not so much that one or another is my favorite, it is which one works with the recipe.

I guess if you wanted just to have a cream flavored vape, then that would be a search for a stand-alone cream. I haven't prioritized that yet. I have always had a cream as an augmenting flavor.

I am getting ready to put some melon, dragon fruit and whipped cream together for an Ambrosia Salad. The Dragon Fruit is pretty potent, but hopefully the melon and whipped cream will buffer it a bit. Making a 5ml testing bottle is just a start.

I take a lot of notes. Also, other flavors can influence the cream, too.

@Carolyn Z - first off I noticed you have 2 of the same Brands and flavorings, new to DIY people do not know that ECX calls TFA Signature, so #6 and #7 are the same flavoring made by the same manufacturer. The good news is now you have only 12 to test. And ghola1was is correct for the TFA flavorings that 100 drop test may work - but in my honest opinion FA is totally different and you need to start small and work up. I use the drop method to make my DIY liquids ( I rebottle flavorings so they all are very close to the same size drops). The thing I read over and over is how someone new to DIY uses way too much flavoring - then can not taste it.:( The way I see it is a person can always add more - it is cutting it down and being able to recreate it if liked that is tricky. Another big issue is that creams can take some steep time to actually work/taste finished. I hope I did not confuse you - Enjoy the journey.:vapor:

1. Vanilla whipped cream (Cap) ----------------------------------------6%
2. Bavarian cream (Cap) --------------------------------------3%
3. Whipped cream (TFA) ----------------------------------------6%
4. Sweet Cream (Cap) ----------------------------------------6%
5. Irish cream (the vape mall) --------------------------------------5%????(TPA = 10%)
6. DX Sweet cream (TFA)--------------------------------------5%
7. DX Sweet cream (Signature ecig-express) --------------------------------------5%
8. Whipped cream (FW) --------------------------------------5%
9. Vienna cream (FA) --------------------------------------3%
10. Whipped cream (FA)--------------------------------------3%
11. Catalan cream (FA) --------------------------------------3%
12. Cream (Flavorah) --------------------------------------3%
13. Fresh cream (FA) --------------------------------------2%

Can always add more PG if too strong or more flavor by drops it too weak (For 5ml bottles -1 ml.=20 Drops [1% = 1 drop 5% = 5 drops]).
The above is the median single/standalone mix percentages for average taste buds. Could start here.
My goal would be to find the:
Creaminess flavor
Cream(s) with the most distinct taste(s) and at the same time most pleasing to the taster.

Thanks Dixie
Only 12 now :) And ya didn't confuse me...yet LOL I know these will have to steep, What do you think of the speed steeping? I've tried it an honestly don't know. I made some vape mall whipped cream at 15% and speed steeped 1 and the others have been steeping in cool dark place since 8/4/16. They're better IMO than the speed steeped one. The "natural" ones taste like whipped cream but need something, at 10 and 12 % there wasn't much flavor. 15% was better. Something missing tho. I like vape wilds whipped cream straight up and I cant duplicate it at the moment. Ooh...should have said that in the first place DUH

I think I figured out hat my first goal was...cloning vape wilds whip cream. Then with learn how to use them in recipes...haven't been daring enough. Out of all the recipes I've been looking at I'm like ALWAYS missing 1 dang ingredient LOL. Guess I'll be getting melon and dragonfruit...I like both. What brand do you use? You're ambrosia sounds really yummy

That something missing feeling.....I hate that too.
Might give a couple marshmellow or meringue flavors as additions for mouth feel and maybe try playing with addition of vanilla (there are a ton of different ones) for another layer to the creams to add depth to your recipe.
I'm just spit balling as I don't have a recipe for you, but it may give the cream base the additional flavor you are looking for.

Good luck, it can be fun and frustrating but when you hit on something you like its fantastic!

FA Vienna Cream:

Probably the richest, creamiest, no-diketone sweet cream out there. It’s sweet and creamy with a hint of vanilla when used 3-4% or less. Over 3-4% will give you a sharp flavor that few find appealing.

This tastes similar to the filling in Boston cream pie. Vienna Cream is closer to what most Americans consider custard than FA's Custard flavor is.If you add a little nutmeg flavor (rum optional) it’s excellent eggnog.

Vienna Cream is a good start for ice cream flavors. It blends perfectly with and smooths out bakery recipes. It tames the strong flavors of FA Tiramisu, for example, and makes FA Cookie 'softer' and sweeter.
