So, Tired of the constant cleaning and rebuilding hassles of the vivi nova... I've rebuilt heads that are nice, but I like to vape at high wattage, and prefer cotton wicks, which doesn't end well... Burning a head every day or so... I got an rba in hopes of making a wick and coil that doesn't need to be messed with after it gets going, but atm no luck... to the point

I want to get a carto tank (Which I have already chosen the 7ml pyrex sidewinder:evil:.) for times where a) I don't have my rba ready to rock b) when I think I'll need the extra device loaded with juice on the go But first, I wanted to experiment with cartos by themselves...

I had 2 single and 2 dual coils... Burnt the singles right off the bat, and 1 dual... However, I got the other dual to work (By not being an idiot and actually priming and letting it sit...) So now I'm running a 1.5ohm dual coil carto at 15 watts... I freaking love it!! Honestly the best **** vape I've ever had.... But... Is it good to vape at that high for long periods of time? And would there be a way to get the same vapor production from a single without roasting it? You know... for the sake of my batteries and juice consumption?

What APV are you using? And 15 watts? Really!?
It's no wonder you burnt your atty's out, they weren't designed to handle that many watts. People typically vape in the 8 watt range.

Please read the article in this link: Guide to Safe Vaping - E-Cigarette Safety | Ecig Advanced Community Blog

You likely will need to use high resistance cartomizers that can handle the power that you wish to vape with. The above article has a chart which can aid in your choice of ohms of the cartomizer. Although the chart gives general guidelines, staying in the green blocks is recommended to avoid harming equipment and to provide for a more satisfying vaping experience.

The Triple V pyrex Sidewinder 7ml will need XL length (45mm) cartos, and will either need pre-punched cartos or you will need to punch them yourself. I didn't check all the vendors listed below to see if the cartos they sell are the length your tank requires, so double check before ordering.

Sweet Spot Vapors sells 4 and 5 ohm Smoktech cartos. Order the stainless for use in a tank. These appear to be un-punched. The vendor said the 4 ohm is more recommended for variable voltage devices up to 6 volts; the 5 ohm is recommended for 7 volt vaping use with stacked battery mechanical mods.
Cartomizers

The following vendor has 5 ohm single coil single hole cartos: 510 Tank Cartomizers

Another: 4.5 ohm cartomizer 4.5Ohm Cartomizer

Additional people may chime in with what they use at extreme voltage ranges.

On a sigelei zmax. I had heard dual coils take more power, so I gave it max power, and it doesn't burn my juice and gives lots and lots of vapor... but it dries quick as hell. I usually vape 1.8ohm rebuilt nova heads at 8 watts... But in all honesty, I don't really care what ohms/watts/whatever are being used... I just want some good ohms/watt combos for max vapor output... Like a 1.7ohm XL single coil (Ressurector) carto gives best vapor production/flavor at X watts... I do know I will have to punch my own cartos for the tank I want, and I had the above example carto in mind, if it can give me what I want, but if it can't compete with flavor/vapor than I will need to look elsewhere...

You think 15 watts is extreme? A dude on youtube vaped at 400 watts.... o_O

You can pretty much buy any XL Smoketech carto, 1.5ohm dual coil, 1.7ohm, 2ohm or 2.5ohm single coils, punch them with the right sized hole for your juice viscosity, and you'll be in vape heaven. I use about one 0.8mm hole for 100% PG and one 1.5mm hole for 100%VG. In my experience all of the above cartos vape the same, at the same wattage. I just love these cartos in tanks (DCT, UDCT etc)

If you had a good experience with the resurrector (1.7ohm smoketech single coil) then you can not go wrong with that beauty in a tank!

Hi everyone, I noticed we were mentioned in this post. 15 watts is certainly a vapable power range. It's not going to happen on a single coil atomizer though. The current must be distributed across a dual coil (minimum). I just did the math here and a 1.5 ohm dual coil running at 4.74 volts will deliver exactly 15 watts. The issue is heat. Since the power is distributed across a larger surface area (7 watts per coil) it should be usable. I can't guarantee that the juice you are using will hold up though.

I think the issue here is being dramatically oversimplified (by myself as well as others), but barring a 3 page discussion on whys and hows....I have never found vaping above 10 watts to be pleasant. It really starts to destroy the complexities and subtleties of the better juices....

I know plenty of people are doing it, but it seems like a bit of a pissing contest. I think we all know that we can get amazing flavor and vapor production (from a good juice) in the 7-10 watt range.

I personally built a mod/atty with a 12 amp potential.....we also have some in house power supplies for flavor testing. Even with a proprietary atomizer, I was never able to get past 33 watts without the juice physically com-busting. The remaining alcohols in the flavor bases (even using our brewing process) with ignite. Long story short, it doesn't taste good....

Hope this helps, rather than adding fuel to the fire (pun?)
