My BIL has one of those great big "Green Egg" charcoal grills. They're a ceramic grill, very well made and only use a small amount of charcoal. Well, yesterday he fixed baby back ribs and the East Texas version of sweet corn (nothing like the Illinois version) and man, you talk about some good stuff! My poor, little tummy looked like I had one of the kids inner tubes on under my shirt! And of course, everything was there to go with it and I even broke down and drank a Heineken beer!
Of course, all of this took place out at the lake and its a good thing that grill of his is so big because there were a lot of people there and others coming by that he managed to feed. As he took ribs off the grill, he was putting more on. So he was never able to get very far from his grill for most of the day!
And of course at dark everyone around the lake was setting off their fireworks and it was a pretty good little show. I know all the kids were enthralled.
We finally got home kinda late and just got cleaned up and cratered. I think we're just going to relax today. Honey girl has been getting her rest, but has still been pushing it more than she needs to. She needs a day to just prop her feet up and take it easy ... maybe with no company.
And I guess I'll go out and mow something.
Oh, and I wanted to tell you. Every day for the next week they are calling for a 30% chance of rain! That's not a big chance, but at least its something.
The little town up the road is getting ready for Old Timers Day this next weekend, where they kill off a bunch of the old timers in the July heat and humidity. I guess I need to run by the Coffee Shop and Feed Store today and tell those old farts goodbye ... because I ain't going to that Old Timers Day stuff. They ain't gonna kill me off!!
I need to be here because I have people I need to harass.
