Hi, I'm new here... I'm Karl the heretiK and I have a nicotine addiction... yup! You all know what I mean... you've been there. And I tried, yes... oh yes, I tried to keep on going... I was still hanging in there with the cigs when they raised the prices so high because dammit!... I love nicotine so. Puffing away... feeling the smoke caress my throat like the Black Hand of Sweet Death... ahhh...

But THEN... THEN they put that friggin' nasty nasty FSC paper on them cigs... YIKES! Did the FDA do any tests on this chemical? Then again, I don't put much trust in the same people who said Vioxx was safe... you know, them idiots who thought it was just fine to give thalidomide to pregnant ladies?

So I've had it with the analogs... I'm not worried about whether I like vaping or not because it HAS to taste better than these overpriced, death-laden f**ksticks! Yah, that's it... that's what I'm calling them from now on... not analogs... f**ksticks!

...or not?

So here's my particular thoughts on all this research I've done over the last few days and I need just a bit more advice before I make a decision...

1) It seems like most folks on this forum lean toward larger vape-clouds... me, I'm one of those people who gets sick if tobacco juice goes into me belly... eg, if I get even a little juice from, say, one of them pre-packaged, Skool Bandit things (and I do believe they're considered to be the chewing gum of snuff), I get nauseous. So I'm thinking large vape clouds may not be for me due to increased condensation of the vapor in the mouth. Is this correct?

2) I've been smoking around 24 years now... currently, I'm smoking Winston Lights so I would have to guess that throat hit isn't something I have to get too concerned over... my po' po' uvula has taken enough abuse and will tolerates it no mo'. I'm a little concerned about the draw, though. I don't want to feel like I'm playing a slide whistle... and I don't want to suck on it like it's a Micky D's shake to get a hit...

3) I'm not real concerned about what the PV looks like... hey, the funkier the better... I liked the light up one I saw somewhere... it would make me look like I was blowing an alien... which is okay... if I run into an advanced lifeform, I'm blowing it... so I can be one of the survivors when they rain firey death upon the planet!

4) And I am wondering about one, important thing... can I assume that the ads I see on this site are from reputable dealers? I don't know what kind of vetting goes on with advertisers here, and I'm just curious...

So please help me out here... I have some extra dough in the paycheck at weeks end, so I'm able to go around $70-$100 in devalued, American currency... in fact, the next time I'm in Canada, I'M SLIPPING YOU GUYS SOME QUARTERS!

Dood,

You're a hoot- that was funny.

1.) Naw, vapor doesn't pool in your mouth or anything to make you sick like snuff or whatever. Sometimes, if you "overjuice" a cart or an atty, some liquid might come out the cart through the suck hole- but after a bit you get the hang of drippin and refilling so that doesn't happen. The higher the nic juice, the more it would kinda sting (and fer shur- don't get it on your fingers and then in your eye. You'll look for a while like one of them advanced life forms while your face is all screwed up, goin "ow ow ow ow" - on the plus side, if you're perceived as an alien, you might get a bl** job from a noob:D)
You actually do want the cloud effect- most times, that coupled with the nic content of the juice will give the most "analog-y" experience (or f***stick-y experience).

2.) I smoked lights for 38 years. And I think you can start out too light on e-juice. Get some 36mg RY4 (tobacco-y and popular, most like it) in PG formulation, and in my opinion, for best results, add about 5-10% pure Glycerin to it. Get Veggy glycerine if you must, but truth be told, you can go to the drugstore (I went to CVS, walgreens would be the same) and just get "Pure Glycerin USP" in the cosmetic aisle or wherever the heck they keep it. It'll say 99.5% anhydrous, which means it has about 0.5 percent water in it. It's pure and totally vapable. And easy to get. If you go too low on the nic, you might not wanna break off analogs, and the glycerine added to the PG will enhance the vapor satisfying a) need for throat 'hit' and b) need for some psychological replacement of smoke. Works for me. The 510 models will give you an analog like hit because they are hotter- the 801 types will give a smoother draw- you do tend to suck a little harder on a 510, but for me it's mostly worth it in terms of enjoyment/replacement.

3.) If I had it to do all over again instead of buying a bunch of different kits, then a Janty stick, I'd go straight for a Big Battery mod- woulda saved a TON of money in the long run. I got a Chuck (website in my sig) and the battery lasts 2 days. A 510 batt would last an hour or two at most of solid vaping. Some of the Nicostick mods, like the Bartleby 510 would be good too. The Chuck is mucho supremo; but would mean you'd have to also get batteries, charger, and buy atomizers/carts/juice separately (which would still be cheaper than blowing through a bunch of kits). I think a bartleby on a 14500 battery is 30 bux cheaper than a Chuck and gets good reviews, has USB built in, etc. The battery on that makes it better than the Janty Stick, IMHO- I got 3 of those here gathering dust at the moment because the 10440 battery is just too small. Here, compare:

10440: 360 maH
14500: 900 maH
18650 3000 maH

the maH, or "milliamp hours" say how long the thing will last, and the bigger it is, the better it provides a constant discharge to the atty. I'm sold on the 18650, but in a "stealth" unit (the bartleby is smaller) a 14500 would more double and almost triple a 10440 in performance.

4.) I've had good, good dealings with myfreedomsmokes.com (the prices on their hardware might look high, but use the coupon code on their forum, I think it's currently "smoke" for a good discount if you shop there. I've yet to run into a bad supplier on ECF, but ymmv.

If you get some extra bux, go for a chuck- that would put you a bit over 100 bux with 80 for the chuck (shipped) cuz then battery/charger/atomizer/cart setup would set you back another 30 or 40 but then you are golden... I think a bartleby's 50 bux and then you could use the rest of yer budget for the other stuff.

Oy, that's all I can stay awake to type..... good luck, bud!

So I'm thinking large vape clouds may not be for me due to increased condensation of the vapor in the mouth. Is this correct? The "smoke" tastes nothing like skoal juice, and it doesn't "condensate" in your mouth. It does on occassion leak a little fluid if you overfill the cart or draw too hard, but it tastes sweet.

2) I've been smoking around 24 years now... currently, I'm smoking Winston Lights so I would have to guess that throat hit isn't something I have to get too concerned over... my po' po' uvula has taken enough abuse and will tolerates it no mo'. I would definitely stay away from the NPro brand that they sell at the gas stations, they are hard as %$# to hit off of. The 510 with manual battery is great for me.

I like to keep at least a couple of red led batts for when I drive at night so I don't draw attention to myself.

4) And I am wondering about one, important thing... can I assume that the ads I see on this site are from reputable dealers? I don't know what kind of vetting goes on with advertisers here, and I'm just curious...I've never paid attention to the ads, so I don't know. I would assume they are...

Hey, thanks for the replies...

Arkayne, thanks for correcting that thalidomide thing... and you know, it just makes me think a sick, terrible thought... what if, WHAT IF PT Barnum had gotten a hold of thalidomide back in his day... that's right... he'd have an army of carnival freaks working for him in no time!

I've looked at the Chuck several times and I gotta say... I'm confused. From the info I've gleaned... it's not an atomizer... it's not a cartridge... and it's not a battery... as far as I can tell, it's just a fancy, battery holder with some threads and neato graphics... so I'm going to hold off on the Chuck for now... and please don't think I'm dissing the Chuck... I just don't feel I'm "up to the Chuck" just yet...

You know, this whole vaping thing with it's strange practices and paraphenalia is pretty neat... hey, why should the ...... addy's get all the fun? Surely... playing with nic juice and atty's has got to be classier than hypodermics and bent, blackened spoons...

At this point, I'm thinking the 510 kit with manual and auto bats, and PCC... and if I really like vaping, I'll think about something in a passthrough model for those late night computer sessions... like the one I'm in now!

Thanks again...

welcome to the site!! couple ideas for ya... like you said already - id get the joye510 kit..... good starter kit but i would go with the manual batterys, that way you can take a drag as long as you want. not telling you where to buy the kit from, but these ladies are where i got mine from, great prices on starter kits and very good customer service!!! just my opinion, i got the PCC (personal charging case with mine) but i think i would rather have gotten the usb passthrough charger.. at least check it out www.cignot.com then once you get your tastebuds back and you decide you like vaping, come on down to the modders section of the forums :) good luck man

I tend to agree with you about the Chuck --- but you know, there will inflame the Chuck cultists if I say that. Oh well, maybe some day you'll end up with a Chuck in your hands anyway -- ya never know.

If you're really a beginner, and haven't actually held a real PV in your hands yet, then may I humbly suggest you go ahead and buy that 510 you've got your eye on, or a M401, or a DSE901 or one of the cartomizer units that are both widely available and widely esteemed, and then, later, graduate to a big battery device if you genuinely feel the need and desire. It'll only be a USD $30-$60 investment (well within your stated budget), and then you can experience, reasonably cheaply, whether vaping is for you or not.

Psychologically, you're already a candidate, in my opinion. So just put it to the test.

Don't stress... us cultists are not inflamed if he doesn't "upchuck":D

Personally, I'd think it best if he started with the stock 510 kit, they are really darn cheap these days, now that I think of it. It's great out of the box, and once you live with it for a while, you really get to know what you're lookin for in a mod. There's lot's of good options out there now- I was looking at the new super-t mini thing, uses a 14500 or 2 cr2's- that's a rocking mod too, with lots of options. On the Chuck, I'm sold on performance and the awesome art available to ya. There's lots to be said for a good performing, more 'stealthy' unit too (especially if you vape near a hospital )

And did ya notice that I recommended for a few bux more, the Bartleby? Cisco did some niiiiice work there at a great price.

Karl the heretiK,

I love heretics. I love heretiKs even more.

I think you should win some kind of prize for best "post number 1".

Other than that, I'll just "+1" steven.rn and reeds101. I have a feeling you'll do just fine with their advice and recommendations.

--John

Totally concur with best 1st post

Dood...

GREAT RANT! I agree with the whole award for best 1st post thing... I also got a 510 and a PCC and a USB passthrough. I'm also not sold on the chuck. My stock battery last long enough for the other one to charge in the PCC and when I'm in my car i use the usb passthrough (my iPhone 12v adapter has a USB on top). I get a good hit and it's pretty consistent. I also bought mine from cignot (mainly because of the rave reviews for them on here and they had a bundle that included the PCC and 2 sample bottles of juice). I would also suggest getting the 10 pack sampler at besteciggy.com... 10 samples $10 +shipping and you get to choose the flavors. could really give you a sense of what kind of taste suits you.

Thanks some more, ladies and germs... <canned applause>

Yup yup, I havvve seen many recommends for the cignot "ladies"... although I'm kinda partial to that blonde bimbo in the Level ads on this site... SHE seems like the kinda girl who'd blow and alien... and I JUST happen to have a foil hat... and a fake passport with Mars, Jupiter and Pluto (true, it's no longer a planet, but a wonderful vacay spot) stamped all over it!

But seriously... I can appreciate the whole word-of-mouth thing... I have a side-biz myself that is only word-of-mouth... in fact, I make jewelry and stuff out of chainmaille, if anyone's interested, because I WILL barter for mods and juice and whatever else you have that I want. Make me an offer for some juice, let's say, and I'll make you a stainless steel necklace that is strong enough to garrote someone with... and still elegant enough for a night out on the town!

For the moment, I'm going to avoid the "vape escalation" stuff I see all over this site, because where o' where does it stop? I mean, hell... I gots an old vacuum cleaner with a HUGE canister and a 12-amp motor I can convert if you's crazy bastages ever want to do some REAL vaping!

Oh, and I fully intend to use that little ticker when I do quit the analogs entirely... but only if I get to use the word "f**ksticks" instead of "analogs"...

Thanks for the warm welcomes.

-Karl the heretik
