Hello all. I just purchased an Ego Twist and Kanger M-T3 to try out after some research on here and another forum. But here's the kicker...I quit smoking 3 years ago cold turkey.

Why did I choose to start vaping? Sure, you might think I'm stupid, but I miss the social interactions. The smoke breaks with friends, the 10 minutes I get to relax from work and take my mind off of things every couple hours, the energy it gave me, and the weight loss. I gained about 40lbs since I quit long ago...and I still find myself snacking on stuff for no reason when I'm not even hungry.

I have not tried it out yet, as I am still waiting on my juice from Mt Baker, which should be here Friday I hope. My buddy bought one of those cheap $10 cig-look-a-like things from the convenience store a while back, and I tried it over New Years and I was pretty impressed (up to that point, I've never even seen an E-cig).

And forgive me for being a little off topic here...but I have tried to hit "Enter" on the keyboard to space this out so it's not a wall of text...but it is not working for some reason on this forum? Any ideas? <--Edited and fixed

Welcome to ECF! Hey we all made the dumb decision to smoke so I don't think anyone has the right to tell you not to make this one. Looks like you got a pretty good setup to start with... I wish I had found this place before I went on a few shopping sprees.

The fruit/bakery juices should cure your sweet tooth. I don't even want to eat anything when I have some cinnamon bun rolling. I will tell you though I don't think vaping will give you the weight loss that you're looking for like smoking did. The sweet flavors should help out though. Maybe others can chime in but my dad has been a stick man his whole life and gained 15 lbs when he gave up cigs for vaping.

Also maybe your enter key is broken because mine worked the first time I posted here.

Hi and welcome! I applaud you for even trying to use the "enter" key. Line spacing is frequently neglected. I've been told to blame facebook.

I'm not sure why it's working for you. At the bottom right of the reply box there is the option to "Go Advanced." If you click on it, it will take you to a page where you can write and preview you comments before posting. You might try composing on that page to see if it makes any difference.

Thanks. It looks like my Enter key is working now. I think it was a problem with IE, as this site was taking forever to load. It crashed, then restarted, and now everything is fine  I've been cruising internet forums since '98...so I know all too well about the walls of text. I usually just skip right over those posts. In fact, I might go back and edit my OP.

Anyways, I ordered Spearmint juice to try out first. I wanted to play it safe, and not order $50 in juices only to find out that I hate vaping. My taste buds tend to like minty and fruity stuff. Watermellon, Strawberry-kiwi , Apple, etc. all sound great to me. Cinnamon and other 'spice' flavors are usually not to my liking. Oh, and I got the juice with 6mg Nic (I probably should have gone with 0 or 3 giving my circumstance), and a 65/35 mixture. I'll try to adjust from there.

The weight loss aspect isn't too big on my wish-list. I just hope that instead of picking up that Poptart, I can pick up my Ego and take a few hits instead. :2cool:

I hear ya. Vaping on some low-nice treats satisfies my urges just fine. I don't blame you for wanting to vape for social interactions either, thats when I find myself vaping the most. Do what feels right and don't takes peoples opinions of your choices too seriously. I must insist, however, that you try to keep those nic levels low. 6 is fine, but you could buy a bottle of 0 nic and mix them to get 3. Its easy to believe that you're not addicted when puffing on vape nic, but the reality is that its every bit as addicting. Vape on man.

:offtopic: But I would suggest you stop using IE altogether. :firefox: <-- Been waiting to use that!

B-B-B-But...it's all I've ever known man! IE is my crack...I gotta have it!

So true! I'll definitely order some 0 and dilute it down some. I don't think I get addicted as much to the nicotine, as I do to the actual habit itself. The hand to mouth, the social addiction, the set schedule of having to go out every hour, etc...

I originally quit because I got the Flu and was out of work for about a week straight and all I could do was lay on the couch. I think that disrupted my schedule so much, that the following week when it was back to the old grind...smoking took a back seat and I never looked back. I never once had a real craving after that IIRC.

Sounds just like me, quit cold turkey just over five years ago. Although, I was not a heavy smoker, hardly ever smoked alone. Nice to see someone else on here with the same idea as me. I am still trying to decide if I should make the plunge, but I really want to, as I posted in my first thread.

I was never a heavy smoker either. I started somewhere around age 15, and quit when I was 23. I smoked a half-pack of Marlboro Menthol Lights at my peak. Maybe a little more on a weekend when I was drinking with friends around the campfire. Subconsciously, I always kept a track of how many I've had, and would limit myself frequently. Weird.

    Welcome ATC !

Glad you came out of the cloud ! :vapor:

Lots of really friendly- helpful folks around here- and some lively and clean discussions.

Your an Adult- and you can make decisions for yourself- not here to judge you.
Vaping tends to dry you out (It's the PG) so, Drink plenty of Water while vaping.

All the Best to you !

Thanks all! Sorry I haven't replied in a while, but I've had a busy weekend.

My Mt. Bakers Spearmint juice showed up on Friday, so I poured some in around 5pm or so and tried it for the first time. It was definately different (in a good way), and took some getting used to. I vaped maybe 5-6 times Friday evening while I was at work, most of the day Saturday (every couple hours), Sunday evening a few times, and so far about 6-7 times today. ALL on the same battery charge that my Ego showed up with on Thursday. And ALL on only a half-tank of juice. I'm impressed. I'm running it at 4.2V. I guess I need to order some more juice to try!
