Ok, so I've used the Quad and Octo coils that came with my smok TFV8 so I figured I'd move onto the rebuildable deck that came with it, it's already got a nice set of Clapton coils pre installed in it, I've done all the usual stuff, checked the ohms, got them firing evenly from the inside out, made sure the coils were not touching the posts etc etc, wicked it up, pushed the ends into the liquid slots, put juice onto the wick, put it in the tank and filled it

Now, I've got it on my Smok H-PRIV mod and I get an error when firing it "check atomiser", went through it all again to double, all fine but still get the error message, I look the coils out and put them in my rda, stuck the rda on the same mod and it works perfectly

Anyone have any idea what's going on? Really stumped

Thanks :)

Imo could definitely be what Eekins said.

Have you used the TFV8 succesfully before with the H-PRIV? That is, with
the coil-heads? This would exclude that there is a 510 connection problem,
like a too short 510-pin.

Have you used the TFV8 in RBA-configuration succesfully on another mod than the H-PRIV?
If not i would try that... to rule out that there is a problem with the RBA-deck.

I'd suggest first trying this, and then post the result if the situation is still not clear.

Soooo, bit of a late reply lol it's now working, TFV8, Clapton coils etc all on my Smok G-Priv

But there is a new issue, is it normal for it to take around 1.2 seconds for the coils to heat up? At the minute I'm not very impressed with it at all, takes ages for them to heat up, taste isn't brilliant, infact, I say the taste is more on the disgusting side than it is on the nice side

Just thought I'd ask here first to see if it was normal for them to take that long to heat up?

Thanks :)

Welcome to the world of RBAs :)
Could be the wicking, coil placement, airflow, impurities on the coil or any number of things. The upside is if you persevere and find success the vape may well be the best you have had, and you have the satisfaction of knowing you did that.
Big coils contain a lot of metal and will have longer ramp up (and down) times. You can remedy the ramp up to a degree by applying more power. I don't have a TFV8 so I don't know how well the RBA is in general, as I understand it's designed primarily for the drop in coils. Try watching some youtube tutorials from people who have built it successfully.

Thanks :) I've actually got the exact same coils in my Glacier V3 RDA and they work fantastically, they take about 0.2 seconds to heat up, where as the exact same coils in the TFV8 RBA and they take 1.2 seconds to heat up and the taste is horrible

I actually did watch this video by Aspen Valley Vapes before my previous post just to make sure I have done everything correctly

This is my TFV8 RBA

Well, looks like I made a stupid mistake, unscrewed the tank from the mod, screwed it back on selected new coil and hey presto, it's now working, still takes a little long to heat up, but a lot better than it was, I can live with that, taste is much better and the cloud it creates is remarkable lol

So, problem solved, rookie mistake lol

not sure on the smok, but on the alien there is a preheat option to prevent longer ramp up... which is normal btw, more wire = longer to heat up.
