Thailand set to ban e-cigs

Normally, I dismiss blog blatherings, but this is a good one, from an intelligent writer who hopes to make Thailand home and is alarmed that the country might outlaw the e-cigarette he uses to stay off tobacco cigs.

Yeah, I saw the article by checking the links to the video I posted on YouTube regarding real cigs vs e-cigs.

It's a shame that another country caves to the all mighty tax dollar. That's all these bans are for.

You're alright in my book Bob. Sure, sometimes we may not see eye to eye sometimes, but the common goal is there.

Majority of thais could not afford to buy e-cigs even if they were available and those who can just don't give a damn. This article seems to be a flashback from the earlier article.
It certainly is possible to make a good e-cig for 5-10 bucks but that probably takes couple years at this rate.

Im sure they would find away. When I was in Thailand for a little bit, they as Im sure you can guess, get everything for cheaper(for the Thai people). I met up with a friend of a friend who was from Thailand there to show me around and she couldn't stop laughing at how much I was paying for everything while there. Many of them smoke cigarettes but I dont think anyone but tourists bought them from the local 7-11 like me and paid about 3 bucks a pack.

I hear ya - my brother in law is consistently reaming my ... for spending half the price i would on stuff here, there (apparently, they'res better deals to be had for non-farang). As for the ban, it seems there's a lot of things banned that are overlooked for poor, innocent, farang tourists that don't know any better, if you catch my drift... I doubt i'll ever get my PV snatched, even if the ban does come down.

Four words, buddy - State Owned tobacco Monopoly.

Kinda like the crap in the US, but they removed the middleman.

Non-government taxed and non-cured tobacco costs about $0.6 for a pack in Thailand. Cheapest government taxed run around $1.2 for a pack. E-cig starter kit should cost around $4-8 to appeal to these people. $8 would barely be within limits of technology but $4 certainly is not.
