3 weeks ago, a salesman at a mall kiosk convinced me to try an e-cig. As a 2 pack a day Camel smoker for the past 35 years, I was very surprised by the similarity to an analog and intrigued that e-cigs seemed to deliver all the pleasurable aspects of analogs without any of the bad smell, second hand smoke or serious health risks. I didn't buy an e-cig on the spot (it was priced at $120 and the salesman offered to give me a "deal" on it at $80, LOL) but resolved to research it.
When I googled "e-cigarette," this forum was at the top of the search results. I came here and started reading. That same day, not having anywhere local to buy vaping supplies, I bought a Blu disposable at Walgreens to use while I decided which starter kit to order. For the first few days I had the Blu, I smoked only 2-3 analogs per day. On the third day, I decided I didn't need the analogs anymore. That was December 14th. I haven't had an analog since that day.
Ordered a Joye 510 starter kit and a selection of juices from several different vendors recommended here, and I haven't looked back. Since then, I've ditched the 510 atomizers and carts for Boge cartomizers, bought a more robust charger and a handful of spare batteries for my 510, and found my daily vape (House Blend by Copper Creek). I will probably move up to an Ego eventually, but for now, I'm getting along with the 510 just fine. I just sent a kit to a friend who was very surprised to discover she liked it, and a second friend also picked up a disposable e-cig this week because he was tired of my nagging him to try it. He has kept with it and is now smoking fewer analogs himself. I expect that before long I'll be ordering a starter kit for him, too.
I wouldn't have known anything about what to buy, where to buy it, or anything else about e-cigs if it weren't for the information so many have generously shared in this forum. I just wanted to thank all of you for creating such a valuable resource for new vapers. It still amazes me that I haven't had a cigarette in over 2 weeks and haven't missed them. Thank you all so much for sharing such valuable info here!
