I've had to go to emerg every night for the past 7 nights for intravenous antibiotics (foot infection) and the wait times were so long, 2-5 hrs. each time. Can't leave the waiting room, or go for a walk, or get food, etc. Just sit and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait... Can I say how much I appreciated stealth vaping in this situation? Saved my sanity!!! I'm so grateful... oh but wait, I'm just smoking in disguise right? Who cares, it rocks. One happy camper I was, save for the damn waste of time and patience and parking money the great hospital bestowed on me.

The guy beside me tonight kept complaining over and over again about wanting a cig.

(Needless to say, after 3 hrs. of waiting tonight with another approx. 2+ hrs. more, I walked out. The foot is still infected but I couldn't take it any more :grr:)

Sorry to hear about your foot, please get it checked. That can end up being very serious. But I did want to say, you're not just smoking in disguise. Although to someone not familiar with it, it could look like you're smoking, there is nothing about vaping that is even remotely like smoking. Two entirely different animals. It can look and feel similar enough to help us get off the stinkies, but what you're actually doing and the effects of it, are totally different. If you said that tongue in cheek, and I didn't get the joke, then ignore this, but wanted to mention it in case anyone else reading this maybe didn't get it either.

Oregano oils and Garlic are natural antibiotics that help keep harmful bacteria in check.
Not a miracle cure but could help, refer to interwebz for details.

Thanks, yes I do use Oregano oil for health reasons when necessary, however this was quite a deep puncture wound that the oil wouldn't get to... and now the infection is too invasive. I've been eating fresh garlic in my salad every day as well, seeing as I have no social life except the waiting room at emerg.

Thanks for the tip anyway :)

Well to non-smokers I am just smoking in disguise.

Half measures availed us nothing. Antibiotics only work when the full course is given. There is also a reason they decided you needed IV rather than pill form. You need to prepare for the long waits, get the full treatment so you don't end up there every day for 6 weeks after the surgery!

Take care of your body! We like having you around!

You can take oregano oil by mouth, does work well, but in this case it definitely sounds like the antibiotics are a good idea :) You can still do the oregano oil though as it can only help :) Joy of the mountains is a good Canadian brand, you do need to either mix it or chase it, I chase it although it's a little harsh going down :)

Oh, I know the joys of vaping in the hospital. I had to take my wife to an appointment not long ago. We were there for 8 hours, and we both stealthed it the whole time. Not that it was strictly necessary as the vast majority of the time we were just sitting in a curtained-off room by ourselves waiting for a doctor or test results or whatever.

I was at the Pharmacy today getting yet another prescription and the pharmacist was all excited about my ecig, cause sometimes I just vape and forget where I am  So wrote down some juice sites and handed over a Canvape card. The irony...

Fun wow I get to hospital vape for a few more days, not scott free yet. Almost cried during the wait again today, can't imagine what state i would be in without an ecig.

Tell me about it. I hate going to the hospital -- not so much for particular health reasons as just the wait often drives me nuts. E-cigs are certainly a sanity saver in those situations. :)

Nothing, the receptionist didn't know what she was talking about when she responded to my initial call. The only good thing that came out of more time and money spent was that I know now exactly what's wrong and the severity of it. So I'm back to waiting in emerg with my head down for as long as it takes to fix my foot :(.

You would think the hospital would have been kind enough to fill me in on the situation. Not.

Thanks for asking!
