I am a new member and wish to introduce myself: I am Richard (46M), living in the Netherlands since 2018, proud father of a son of 17 and happily married for 18 years.

I have stopped smoking the cancer sticks on 18th of October 2024 with the help of vaping. With these new fancy and flavourful gadgets, I could close a 30+ years of unhealthy and very expensive habit, I used to be a really heavy smoker. I became a true vaping enthusiast since and took on a new hobby that I enjoy immersive.

I am buying frequently new devices, e-liquids, participating in giveaways and constantly looking for new gadgets to collect. I would like to share with you my reviews, experiences and insights. I am not paid or sponsored for these reviews - it is purely my passion, curiosity and enjoyment that drives me. Happy to be part of this community!

Currently smoking a nice grape ice nic salt 30 mg on my Kumiho Thoth G :) Cheers!

Welcome to ECF, Richard. I stopped smoking and started vaping on 29 September 2014. I also regulary smoked for at least 30 years and I certainly agree that it's unhealthy and expensive. So far I haven't spent more than 32 grand on cigarettes and haven't put close to 3 pounds of TAR in my lungs.

Thanks for your warm welcome, congrats for stopping as well, it was our best decision ever!

To be honest, I sometimes still cheat a little bit with a nice cigarillo next to my coffee only - I am looking for the perfect cigarette flavour e-liquid, but to date I haven't found it yet. What was closest to my taste was the Veev One Classic tobacco, but that is again on the more expensive side and we cannot buy it here in the Netherlands, I need to drive over for the pods either to Belgium or Germany..and it tasted like an ashtray :) I bought now the Curieux Tweed for DTL, which is somewhat a Camel mentholish reminiscent, not too bad.

Well you’ve given yourself another ten years of life. Lung cancer and emphysema are now both off the table. (Well soon will be. Lung cancer takes 5 years) You may or may not need to deal with the high blood pressure thing too, but if you do you’re armed. GJ

Another 10 years in heaven was definitely worth to quit! Thanks. I am the opposite I have very low BP, which isn’t good either, but then have other things to combat..we all do

Err um ... I didn't see them. In broad terms you are right - we all know what smoking does; we've all been there and some have suffered worse than others. Details aren't too releveant - basically smoking kills or disables. I don't think anyone would disagree with that broad brush statement.

When I joined everybody like me ( a 50 plus years smoker ) was desperate to get off it and we helped eachother do just that.

IMHO those were the Forum's "Rare Ould Days!" I personally am grateful beyond measure.

I have outlived my beloved father, a heavy heavy smoker by 5 years at this point!

There were a giant pile of “disagree”s so I thought something was off. I didn’t know what though.
