I received my DIY Master Artisans kit today :) Thanks for the extra pipettes, bottles, dropper top, and Ethyl Motal, very much appreciated! And a nice thank you note on my invoice to boot. After hours of reading this forum, many texts, and with the provided instruction sheet in hand I whipped up and instant classic!!
My atty, nostrils, throat and lungs will not soon forget the pain I inflicted upon them! It was so bad, I think I might have even damaged my ego battery ;-) Alas, I was able to create 3ml of my own little hell, I like to call it RY666. I think I will do what all the juice vender's tell us to do when we get a flavor we don't like, I will set it out with the lid off for the next several years to steep.

Tomorrow I will start all over, a little wiser and with a new found respect for the people that make all the juice that I have enjoyed up to now.

Bad flavors happen.. even when you have been mixing your own for over a year. The other day I was trying to use a recipe from the forum for waffles... o m g!
Not the recipes or makers fault, my own.. sometimes after mixing for awhile you forget the basics and jump in face first in this attempt hehe!

I am glad your kit arrived quickly! Your welcome and Thank you :) If you any assistance please dont hesitate to contact us :)

Hey mauzey -

Sorry that first mix didn't go so well! Share the recipe and we'll see if we can help you tweak it some. I can relate, as my first mixes were by far my worst. It does get better as you get more accustomed to the flavors. DIY can require a bit of finesse to get things just the way you like them.

Thanks, I really want to be able to get to a point where I can create a consistent RY4 and a not so Sweet tobacco flavor that I can enjoy. I have ordered from different vendors and gotten different versions, but even ordering the same flavor from the same vendor the batches didn't taste the same. I am sure I can benefit from everybody's experience here.

Well I think I finally got a good batch, I started by creating a mix using the e-Juice calculator from breaktru, created the 5ml mix with just 2.6ml of 48mg/ml nic juice and 1.7 ml of VG, then adding 4 drops of PA DK Tobacco, 5 Drops of PA RY4 and 5 Drops of PA Marshmallow.
My original batch and one subsequent batch was pretty much ruined by adding PA Caramel, it turned out to be way too strong.

After my original debacle, I decided to create the just the Nic and VG juice mix and start by adding the 1st ingredient, test and adjust to taste. Then do the same for each ingredient. I think I have a system to create juice now.

Thanks again.

J!

What did you determine was wrong with your first mixture?

Overall I think I just used too much PA Caramel, I have not found the sweet spot with any PA flavors, I also learned that trying to create complicated flavors takes lots of patience. I've settled on using 40/60 PG/VG mix, I start with a 10 ML 25mg raw mix.
Add my first flavor, usually a tobacco, when I am satisfied with that I start adding the sweetener, I find that FA's Hazelnut is a great flavor to tone down the harshness of many tobacco flavors.

Thanks,
Jeff
