*start rant*

I'm quite glad I quit doing reviews when I did. Go on today and see 41 videos flagged from "monetized" to "limited to no ads". All vaping videos but nothing else. According to them...

"Advertisers avoid placing ads on videos that don't align with their brand. For example, they may choose not to advertise on content that's sexually suggestive, includes bad language, or is considered controversial."

So apparently vaping is frowned upon by advertisers now? Surely YouTube doesn't put vaping under the "Drugs and dangerous products or substances" rule in the guideline?

Videos ranging from reviews or e-liquid, mods, talking about how vaping saved my life, tutorials of O's and twisting kanthal without a drill have all been flagged. Yet I can't even appeal them because we need "1000 views in 7 days". Granted these aren't that popular except for the twisting kanthal tutorial, but it's kind of like a kick to the face that YouTube/Advertisers don't understand or don't care about the healthier alternative that we have. Maybe vaping is controversial? haha. Personally I think the YouTube system is just trash and they're relying to much on automated flags.

Again like my last post I've done. I apologize for the rant.

*end rant*

Tbh ALOT of youtubers not just vaping ones but every kind of video producing people on there have had that problem lately because of how their algorythm functions,it's sad to say but it's true alot of videos these days get demonitised for absolutely no reason. You kinda need to look at the bigger picture instead of just vaping since these guys (grimmgreen, suck my mod, indoorsmokers etc) are just a drop in the ocean of youtubers and they all have the same issues with the demonitisation of videos (sorry if i make lots of mistakes btw i don't know how to writte every word in english XD).

On another note yes youtube could use the drugs and dangerous product rule to "ban" these videos, mainly since countries, province, states all have different laws on vaping, so youtube at the end has to go with the majority. Over in my end of the world for example i use a site (kinda like creigslist? or whatever the name is) to sell my stuff, it's canada wide but selling vaping products can get you banned and the ad removed because here vaping = smoking so anything vape related is not authorized to be sold online which means i can't (i still do though).

Annoys the living hell out of me too but not much you can do but the usual (ie : defending our rights to a healthier alternative)

I don't sell anything or do anything on youtube but i have a hate/love relationship with it. I have learned alot about vaping through youtube over the years, but for the most part i don't care for it. Seems like their always taking stuff down so when i go back to it in my favorites it's gone...very frustrating. Sorry to hear they are ruffling your feathers as well, it probably is related to how they view vaping and that is sad. Sadly many view vaping as smoking.

Does this mean I need to copy those videos I want to someday go back to?

(I know I can do that and save them on my own computer)

(Sorry, I don't really understand youtube rules for vaping)
You might

From what I heard watching some youtubers discuss this after it was implemented there are other reasons videos can be demonetized such as the video is no longer getting X views per week, or the video is obviously a sponsored video but it was uploaded without enabling some option in YT to show it was a sponsored video.

Does this mean that vaping is sexy now? Or that there are some hot YouTube reviewers I'm missing out on? Most YouTube reviews I come across seem to be chubby or spider-monkey like dudes in their garages or something, demonstrating equipment, with the notable exception of a Steampunk Tesla Nano review that was done with a fake French accent, aviator goggles, and a beret. It was very hard to take seriously....I forget who produced that one.... Maybe I'm searching for the wrong type of YouTube videos, and there's a whole world of possibility out there?

Most social media platforms are great... Until they get gigantic, and the platform wants to take a giant chunk of money out of the process and include advertising and start limiting everything. I hear there's going to be a premium instead of freemium FB to come, if it hasn't yet? I don't employ FB, pintrest, that "Here's what I'm doing at all times!" twitter thing that is just awful, etc., for those very reasons. DJT should really consider eschewing it.

The husband and I just reluctantly switched from cable to internet only and we're trying to decide between Hulu and Netflix and honestly, I hate things about both of them. I guess I'm going to have to adjust. I actually visit the app store now, on occasion, though its usually with a deep feeling of reluctance, and you will pry my physical keyboard from my cold, dead fingers thank you just the same.

Oh, I have fun wherever I go, but what I like about HERE is learning more about vaping in the process. :) :) Don't fret, however, my time is increasingly limited, its just my mom taught me to read at 3 and I taught myself to type (on an old typewriter!) when I was about 6, so longwindedness is a bit too easy....

It's not just you that this has happened to. I've seen this issue popping up on YT for a bunch of YT content creators, from Game Reviewers, Game Play Through creators, Tech Reviewers, etc, I do not think there is any content genre on YT that is not being hit by this, thus a lot of the YT content creators are moving to add a Patreon or other such subsidy program to balance out the lost revenue YT is shorting them on. RubyRoo made a couple videos she mentioned this issue about a few months back was when I first heard about the issue, and now after the, I'll put it mildly, the white right issue with the lady killed in NC during that gathering, Google has put the bots into stricter rules and overtime turbo charged mode. I can understand some of it, but Google should have issued a notice or email to all YT content creators of the fact they were getting stricter with their payout guidelines, or that advertisers were getting squeemish.

I could understand if views were the case, but the one getting 400 or so views weekly got flagged but the ones that got 100 views in 2 years are ok? That doesn't seem like their mindset being it.

I can also understand the sponsored part, but I mentioned in each review I did if I received a product for free. Typically the e-liquid. I was never big enough to be sent mods/tanks and such.

Exactly. I can understand games with copyright and such. I have a friend i mod for on Twitch that's a YouTuber. 670k subs doing motorcycle stuff. If he uses profanity in a video he gets flagged almost instantly. YouTube is starting to destroy themselves and I look forward to seeing their site become a "has been" in a couple years.

To add - I wasn't even emailed about being flagged. Just some small box "Do you noticed your revenue dropping?" and click it to see all these videos flagged.
