I get to go down to Chapel Hill to visit family and friends tomorrow. It should be interesting as this is the first time I'm seeing them since I quit smoking and started vaping. I'll be interested to see their reaction to my PV's as most of them are smokers, and others like my brother in law would often bum smokes from me when I'd visit.

Other than visiting Boston over the summer, this will be the first true test as I'm sure we'll hit the bars and the temptation to smoke will be stronger than ever.

Have a great Thanksgiving, guys.

I've vaped around my brother a few months ago when I visited him in CT. He thought it was cool and said he was interested, then he tried it and seemed to kind of lose interest. My parents and rest of family don't know about it yet and I'm sure I'm going to spend all thanksgiving separately explaining it all to about 20 different people. I'm not looking forward to it. I know it seems everyone here loves spreading the word, but I hate being bothered by it. I actually avoid vaping at all around people at parties or out in social situations because I don't like having to explain what I'm doing, and with all thats in the media about it I really don't want to hear about how bad it is for me or hear "So when you quitting that thing" and so on... rather just avoid it all...

On a brighter side I can't wait to see my family, haven't seen them in about a year and I miss them quite a bit, love the family traditions of getting together for thanksgiving, and christmas. It's always been weird to me to hear people going to parties on these days but I never do because it's a tradition to be with family not with a bunch of drunk idiots... although the family can become drunk idiots, atleast I'm related to them, hahah.

Tell them about the horror of dihydrogen monoxide and how it can also lead to death, and does so to many many people every year.

Its always good for a laugh when people dont get it

  1. I lucked out, my mother also has an ecig, actually shes the one who suggested it to me, so we have each other. She has also got 3 other relatives to try them, we'd see if they are using them on thanksgiving. I must say it is really nice to not have to go outside to smoke, I was forcing myself to smoke outside last winter since my boyfriend quit and I felt bad since I had not.6 months cig free yay

I feel the same way about it. Four days before Thanksgiving I had to work night shifts at my bakery (making literally thousands of pies and stockpiling them) and they shut us in the warehouse and activated all the alarms. I couldn't go outside and vape in my car like a usually do, so i was forced to vape around my fellow night shift workers in the break room. I must've explained the concept of esmoking to 30+ people in those 4 days. Some laughed at me (most people actually) because I live in a smaller sort-of sheltered town and these people have just never heard of such a thing! It got really frusterating but I did explain it to a few analog smokers and they seemed genuinely interested. So who know's, even though it may make us uncomfortable to explain, perhaps we are converting some people (so to speak) to vaping and prolonging lives! :p
