That didn't seem too tough.

Built my first dual coil on my Igo-W. I read about how people were having difficulties only getting one coil to fire, so I started out trying to eliminate any possibilities in differences in resistance.

Cut my wires the same length, wrapped 11 wraps of 32awg kanthal on a dinky little allen wrench, squeezed them as close as I could with tweezers, stuck one in, it read at 2.8 ohms. I was shooting for 3 ohms but oh well.

Did the same process with the second. Put both on, read 1.4 ohms. COOL. Dry burned, only one lit up. Loosened the non-firing, snugged it up to the posts a bit, and bam. Two orange wires.

But, I still only have a mvp2 to use it on, which was why I was shooting for a little higher 1.5 ohm. I'm running it at 11w, it seems to be doing just fine. But it could be better. I have a sentinel m16 and some efest 18650 1600mah's on the way, should be here tomorrow. I'm going to definitely need to order up some more wire, probably 28 awg as it seems quite a few others use that instead of 30.

Speaking of the mvp2... What is the lowest resistance that can be used on it with its' 3 amp cut-off? I found this fancy table a few days ago that had a column of ohms, voltage, wattage, and an ampacity at the end, but closed my browser. But with e/i=r (4.2v/3a = 1.4 ohms) is 1.4 ohms the cut-off on mvp2? Or the theoretical safe limit? Most of the other posts people just guess at what they can use.

Thanks! And if you have any tips or tricks please feel free to share :p

IIRC....the MVP's protection circuitry is SUPPOSED to kick in at 1 ohm...but I've read several posts from folks who've had them fire at .8-.9 -- I think it's a matter of component tolerances....SOME MVP's will fire below 1 ohm, others won't...
My mantra.....PLAY IT SAFE!!! STAY WELL AWAY FROM SUB-OHM WITH THESE devices!! I try to stay at 1.5 or higher...
Now....my Reo....THAT'S a whole different ball game!!:D
Happy (vaping) Trails!

Yep, that's what I'm planning on doing. Staying at about 1.5.

I've also read that some of the regulated mods will still fire the lower resistances, but they scale down the voltage so that the operating ampacity still isn't exceeded.

And I guess with the e/i=r calculation, it does not including the circuit board so my calculation is moot.
