That's it, I'm had it with these two.

Your wicking ways may come to an end soon. I'm going try one more time and then into a drawer they go. I tried less cotton, more cotton, wrapped the cotton and back into the well over a dozen times. All they do is burn the cotton at the coil. I've tried bigger coils, smaller coils, higher and lower resistance coils and nothing seems to work. As you see some new juice came in yesterday.

I have a Kraken clone as well, and it's collecting dust since I found RTA's. The workmanship on it is fine. It's an Hcigar. Genisis style tanks just don't suit me. I have now desire to learn about stainless steel mesh, I don't sub ohm, and cotton either burns like yours, or leaks when not upright. Sometimes both! Speaking of which, I really should put them up on the PIF board. I need to thin out my collection of stuff I don't use.

Then lose the cotton and do silica. That's what I did. Not that I had quite as many problems as you seem to have with cotton, but I'm far too lazy to be changing my wicks every two days.

Silica wicks need a bit more work, but they last forever, and more importantly, survive dry burns. The trick is to "choke" them just so inside the coil - not too tight, not too loose.

I have no problem w/ my RSST and wicking. It is very simple w/ SS rope and SS mesh. I tried cotton a while back and it was messy and inconsistent to say the least. Good hit, dry hit, good hit, dry hit.... I don't have that problem anymore. This is an old pic, but I'm still using the exact setup right now... I might also add I use 70% VG liquid also...

I set up all of my Genny's (Kraken, Prometheus, Steam Turbine and RSST) with cotton and vertical micro coils. One thing I have found is that you have to use WAY less cotton than you think you do. It looks like you might be using a bit too much cotton (but I could be wrong too...hard to tell from the pics)....I use literally a VERY thin strip of cotton, and thread it down through my coils with a pair of tweezers....You want just enough so that the cotton touches the insides of the coils...The cotton swells considerably when it gets wet with juice......I struggled with dry hits too when I first started setting my Genny's up with cotton, but I found that using a lot less cotton solved that problem. I never use SS Mesh anymore as I get a great vape with cotton and micro coils...

Also, remember to "tilt" the mod when you take a hit...this will help to get juice up to the coils...but you probably know that already... :)

hope this helps!!

Thanks, so far so good. The thing is most of the youtubes dudes are sub-ohm which I followed. But, my builds are 1.2 to 1.8 builds which I think require more cotton and I could be wrong. With the kayfuns I had the same problem and thought I was using to much cotton, it turned out to be not enough. I have those working great now so I thought I would try these again.

So funny, when I started building a few weeks ago I thought coils were going to be the biggest challenge. It turns out that wicking is the hard part!!!

It's interesting for me I started rebuilding Kayfuns and never had a problem wicking not even once. I guess I was always wicking it the same way with the same amount of cotton in the same way etc.... But low and behold after missing with my fogger v4 so much I can no longer properly wick my Kayfuns without getting dry burnt hits.... so annoying..I have some rayon on the way hopefully it gives some wiggle room without the wick being perfect.

Don't see how you can eliminate the Burnt look on a cotton Genny. It is mostly just a look anyway.
Wick is the last stop in Vaporizing and any(ANY) coloring/additives will caramelize at the coil.

I do a Vertical on the AGA-T& Rsst, just enough cotton to fit snug, not tight. Swelling takes care of fit. Then the last step is to trim the wick top tight to the coil to avoid top burn.

With enough wick in the tank, you can pull the cotton up and snip now and then to remove if anything does get burnt.

I found that with cotton I no longer have to have the wick/opening at the bottom while vaping and can leave the fill plug/screw in place. Makes the topper a bit more travel friendly.

I'm sure either, but a burnt taste and the cotton is black at the coil seems to be the issue. As I stated I'm new to this and all of the videos seems to be directed as sub ohm user guide. Since my coils are above 1 ohm I think I need more cotton at the coil. I'm probably wrong but they seem to to working correctly now, well longer than previous attempts.

Thank you for the help.

Saturation, not ohms, is the key. Did not see what your mix is, but I vape all 50/50 mixes.(DIY)
Even if purchasing only one mix, you may find some are thicker than others. Depends on the actual products used in mixing.

Thick is a trick to wick. Thinning can be done with a few drops of distilled water without effecting Flavor.

I never Sub ohm my tanks. All run between 1.3ohm-1.8ohm. For me, a higher ohm, tight micro coil just seems to work better.

I will tell you that I personally am done with Genny's myself, I have an AGA-T2 that I did everything to try and get it right
They are a PIA and in the long run don't provide a pleasurable enough vape to be worth the hassle.
Hot Spots, wicking, air hole placement and size, too damn finicky.

I have had more luck and better results from Vivi Nova Clones (which I do not like either, originals only)

But, since finding the Kayfun 3.1 ES (not Lite) I have no need for anything else.
The Fogger looks like a good adaptation, and I may get one some day.
But so far, the HCigar Kayfun 3.1's I have work perfectly.

Note, that includes the Drunker

re-reading that reminds me of something.....

I used to smoke 20 packs of cigarettes a day
But since I lost one of my lungs
I cut my smokin in half.

dern-dern-deohn dern-dern-deohn dern-dern deowwwn..
