:2c:

so it looks like the “Top Coil” is dead

was cleaning out some junk files and came across Top Coil clearos…
CE5, vivi nova, kangers T2, the dreaded i16 & i30, etc. …

with the plethora of new clearos flooding the market,
but not one top-coil version of anything… ??

am I wrong, did I miss one, am I forgetting something…

I’ve had my share of top coils, they worked but just short of
the newer cool kid on the block, the bottom coil clearomizer…

if you squint your eyes just so, you could make a case the kayfun is a top-coil device
but perhaps a bit of a stretch, of the imagination…

so I’ve looked, thought about it, and could not come up with even one
new model top coil, so now I figure plenty of peeps will come in and say
“what about this” / “what about that”
so anybody got anything ?? is the top coil really dead and gone

oh well, who cares, it was never that good in my opinion…
but it did act as a stepping stone for MANY MANY starting vapor'ers

…may it rest in peace

I work in delivery which takes me through a lot of differently pressurized places with different temperatures all day long, and the top coil clearos with my cigalikes are the only ones that don't flood and leak on me throughout the course of a work day. While I don't use them at home much, they are irreplaceable to me so I hope they stick around!

I get what you are sayin'

not sure "which" version you're using, but

in your case, if I was you, I'd buy a few tanks & coils
while still available, then with rebuilding them (one of the easiest)
you should be set for a long time...

with the 'top' & 'bottom' caps being made of metal

suggest some metal 'tanks' for longevity (since plastic is weak point)

good luck

I'm using the kanger t4's (808), which I'm certain is exactly what the "mini clearos" from smokeless image are as well. I tried the esmarts but they just didn't perform as well for me. The t4's are discreet, flush with my autos, no flooding or leaking, no dry hits and plenty of vapor! The tanks unfortunately are made of plastic, I'm unaware of any glass options on these...?

While it's hard to imagine the t4's being discontinued as long as there is a market for cigalikes (which I'm sure there always will be), I could see them phasing out the top coil design for a bottom coil one, due to my needs it may be good advice that I stock up on these. I certainly don't prefer them when I'm at home, but I've tried taking protanks, carto-tanks and various other options with me through a work day and it always results in frustration and time that could be better spent.

It appears that top coils have been relegated to CE4 styles and smaller toppers at this point in the marketplace. By the time the Vision Vivi Nova 2.5 version arrived, finally becoming a consistent good performer, Evods and Protanks hit the market by storm. Competing products shifted development funds toward bottom coil toppers, so as consumer preferences for glass tanks grew, new products arrived in mostly bottom coil configurations. In addition, a slew of crappy knockoff top coils may have driven vapers to search out a different choice. Of course, the new/shiny factor drives vendors and vapers too.

Although many won't miss the Vivi Nova and Kanger T2, they are my mainstays. The Kanger T2/Halo Triton performs well but is not new and shiny enough to grab buyers attention. After trying everything from the Evod to the Nautilus, I still prefer the warm wet vape a quality top coil provides. Thanks to clearances, I'm stocked up for a long time to come.

I've had some "good-vaping" with the top coil,
but I really didn’t care for the coils being that close to my mouth…

the biggest drawback to me, was you had to empty the tank
to work on it, something not needed with bcc
makes me think of the kayfun...

I love the design (take apart) of the vivi nova, so that is why
I enjoy the best of both worlds (IMO) with these

I just like the old school single bcc coils
