Really glad that everything has worked out for you. The AW IMR batteries are the only ones that I use too. All the other ones that I had before just doesn't perform as well. 4.5 is a good voltage to be vaping at. Although I'm more of a 5V person myself. Which isn't to much of a difference but I find that's my sweet spot. Haven't tried going to 6V but might try that out sometime. I've been hearing people talking about how great Boba's Bounty tastes at that voltage.

I like 6V for the massive amounts of vapor and relative ease of draw but really don't have any juice that does well at 6V. I'm going to search the forum to see if there is a list of juices that hold up at 6V. I bought a 510 to ego adaptor and I like using the VV box with my emdccs. With those I can crank it up to 5V and still get pretty good flavor without the burnt taste. But it has to be filled well and kept moist. I bought some Boge 3.0 cartos just for HV and filled one up with some Caramel Corn and it was just too much heat for the juice, imagine that burned corn smell you get when you burn your popcorn in the microwave. EW.

Good for you, they never sent me a notice either. Went to buy some more emdccs and saw a few in stock, this must be the last of the next batch since I got the last one 2 weeks ago. Buy some good AWs for it, they will last a lot longer than the Ultrafires, or at least for the way I use it....not a chain vapor, but the next step down....

Thanks for the tip joanr - I have a pair of Ultrafires to hand so I´ll see how they hold up (they've hardly been used) before pulling the trigger on AWs.

I'm just not getting the 6V vaping. None of my juice tastes good at that voltage except for the Key Lime Pie. Everything else looses it's taste, although the amount of vapor is huge.

I think you're on the right track there, with the stronger tastes being better at HV. At about 5.5 to 6V BB finally hits nicely for me. Hated it prior. Most of my liquids do very well in that range, in fact, but only on the IKV HV attys. I use an IKV Stealth 3.5Ohm 901 and the IKV io6 3.5 Ohm. I also mostly use liquids that are thicker with more VG in them like NiteLite Vapor and Ms. T's. BWB's juices have done well for me at the range with those attys, as well. Pure PG liquids are not tasty at that range, in my experience.

The MV VV mod you're talking about here is made by Steve(Godzilla) at FoxyBox Mods and he sells them from his website, by PM, or e-mail and you pay through paypal. If you google that you will find a thread here on ECF with raves about his VV, 5V and 3.7V box mods. Fast, personal service and a great product. I vape mostly organics at 50/50 mix these days and the organics do well at 3.7 to 4.2 but beyond that they seem to burn or loose all flavor. That being the case I really don't need a VV option that much but just had to experiment. A good KGO at 3.7 would probably work fine with the type of juices I use. I haven't even used my Blue Lightening Tube at 6V more than twice, I just leave it with the one batt at 3.7V. Guess I'm a lightweight...But the emdccs or any of the dualies seem to give the organics a little kick, and they do taste great in those along with the Boge 2.0 cartos. Funny how we change as we go, a few months ago the thought of using a carto with the dreaded filler was crazy to me, but now they are all I'll use....until...

That's true, I actually started out with an ego-t type B and never thought that I would use anything else. Including atomizers and cartomizers. But, now I've become pretty proficient with both of those and enjoy using them. I've never really vape organic juices all to often. Although, the only ones I've tried have been some organic extracted tobacco's that tasted like ka ka.

Still haven't tried some of my juices from Virgin Vapors yet due to the diacetyl are in the flavors I have (maple french toast and hot buttered rum). You could always try 4.2V or something like that. Sweet juices don't do to well on HV but they do pretty well up to that voltage I just mentioned.

Anyways, I don't vape HV most of the time myself. But it is nice sometimes to get a warmer vape. Really helps with my urges. I'm sure the juices you have do great in those cartos. But, cartos in general don't do to well with juices that are higher in VG. You should probably take that with a grain of salt because there are people that do use them in their cartos and don't have much issues with it.

To pick at the nit: when I'm driving and vape with my right hand (I grew up driving a stick, so I drive with my left) I'm constantly having to flip it over to hit the button with my forefinger.

I hold mine in my right hand almost constantly with the button down. What I do is have my thumb rested on the box, and the button is pretty much right under the joint, so pressing my thumb down activates it easily.

What voltage are you usually at. You can give it a wild guess since it doesn't have a display on it and not sure if you got a voltage meter (don't have one myself yet). My opinion is that the higher the voltage the faster it drains.

Actually, with a linear regulator, it is more efficient at high voltages. Think about it this way. The voltage starts off at roughly 8.4v with 2 batteries in series. Linear regulators basically burn off the excess energy as heat like a resistor. To go down to 3.7v would require it to burn off 4.5v worth of energy, which would make it pretty hot. While for instance I vape at 5.7v, which requires it to only burn off 2.5v worth of energy.

At 5.7v mine never even gets warm to the touch except in the most nervous bouts of chain-vaping, and a set of batteries last me nearly a full day. BTW I am using a 2.8 ohm atomizer, putting the math at 11.6 watts.

I thought the batts would put out the same voltage no matter where the dial was turned and the regulator was doing all the work.

LOL To be honest I am not 100% positive how to explain it in a manner that won't sound vaguely like gurgling sounds(I suck at explaining stuff, to the point it even sounds like gurgling sounds to me).

It has to do with the efficiency of the regulator and its draw on the batteries. To make 8.4v go down to 4.2v cuts its efficiency by just over(overhead) 50%. To make it go from 8.4v down to 5.7v keeps the efficiency somewhere around 60-65%.

The downfall of linear regs is their poor efficiency, which worsens the more energy it has to burn off. This is why switching regs are so much more popular. They are upwards of 90% efficient, and that doesn't change regardless of where they are set.

That is basically how linear regulators work. In a nutshell, they basically sacrifice mAh in favor of voltage at an almost proportionate rate.

I didn't get the Foxy Box Mods VV because I knew I wouldn't want to have to mess around finding the perfect carto for all the variable voltages so I got the FBM 5V and put a 2.0 DCC on it. These are sorta new and I found them at SweetVapes. I'm getting great flavor and tons of vape. The 3.0 single coils are good on it but these 2.0 DCC's are something else. Steve has all 3 of his mods in stock at foxyboxmods.com.

2.0 ohm Dual Coil Cartomizers, sounds good. So I assume they have two 4.0 coils and would be a tad cooler than the 1.5s. Think I'll give those a try, the 1.5 dualies really drain the ego batts but I like them on the VV box mod, the 2.0 may be better for the type of juices I use.
