I have tried this dripping technique and I really want to conquer it, but I am having extreme difficulty. I either flood the atomizer or it taste burnt. I have tried starting with 4 drops, 5 drops, 6 drops, 7 drops. AS you can see it will get flooded and then no vapor, or if I do get vapor it taste burnt. I have soaked the atty in everclear for 12 hours thinking it might be dirty, but makes not difference. Seems it is either flooded or burnt. It is a 3 ohm atty that was debridged when I purchased it and running around 5 volts. I have adjusted the voltage up and down and seems to not make much difference. I will not give up though. I am determined to conquer this technique.

With a standard 510 and batt I use 3-4 drips, depending on how old the bottle is. It takes a little experience I guess, new bottles have smaller drops until they get a little worn. For 5 volts I have an apex with res so use like 8 drips and blow out the excess into the res would not quite call that helpful for your situation.

I don't like debridged attys. I still don't understand why they're supposed to be so good. The only parts of an atty that hold juice are the mesh over the bridge and the cup at the bottom. 3 drops in a debridged atty is enough.

When it has been gurgling and not much vapor I keep puffing until some of the liquid is gone.
Well, with a debridged atomizer, I would guess anything over 3 drops will probably flood it.
And what you described above is classic flooded atomizer.

I agree with base234 in that I have been dripping for almost three years and never debridged an atomizer.
It holds less juice, and as far as I'm concerned it doesn't help in any way whatsoever.

But not knowing what kind of atomizer you are using, I can't really offer suggestions for improvement.
But if you tell us the exact atomizer, maybe someone who has experience with them can help.

Every atomizer is different.

As soon as it stops gurgling though it just has that burnt taste.
But this unusual and I don't have any explanation for that.

What atomizer are you using?

Debridge it, dewick it. It'll go through less juice that way too haha.

For me, I'll blow out an atty, clean it in alcohol, rinse, blow out again, dry, and prime. I prime it with 4 drops, take an unpowered light drag and listen for a gurgle. If no gurgle, add two more drops. Once there's a gurgle, I'll take a hit and test. If the gurgle sustains itself while vaping, then I know it's good to go.

Atomizers work like a vacuum. You gotta take a strong enough drag to bring the floating liquid up to the coil, so slow/lazy drags aren't the best idea (especially on a debridged/dewicked atty).

Normally, when I have my PV sitting around for hours and I pick it up, I'll drip 3 drops (after it's already been primed), then vape until the vapor production falls off (right before it burns), and drip another two drops. Then I'll keep going with 2 drops until I'm done.

Using a HH.357 btw.

I love dripping, even using my generic 3ohm 510 attys. I also have an Ikenvape 2.5Ω that rocks like crazy, they are pretty inexpensive too.

Just no flavor like a dripped juice...but I haven't tried a bottom-feeder yet...

Here a vid that might come in handy for ya.

His tip on taking a few quick non-powered draws to get the juice up into the mesh is a good one...helped me to keep the juice from settling too much and flooding. :)

I never had much success until I got drip shields. They are great! Excess runs out into the shield and you just suck a bit more back in when needed. I've been using unsealed, debridged with a sealed 510-510 connector. Unsealed seems like it floods less because it allows the juice to run out into the shield.
