The bad aftertaste...

This may actually belong in another forum, but I've not had much luck with responses in those. Since I really need some advice, I'm going to ask for it here. Thanks in advance for any advice whatsoever!

I've been vaping for four-and-a-half weeks now, and in that time have not picked up a single analog. I've been feeling pretty proud of myself, but still have one issue I'm trying to overcome -- that bitter, lingering, awful aftertaste that seems to accompany so many of the e-juices I've tried. It has been present since the first day, but instead of getting better it is only becoming worse and harder to ignore. I've only found one e-juice that doesn't carry the aftertaste, but the company from whom I ordered it has declared it "out of stock" for 3 weeks now, and I can't find another supplier who brews the flavor the way I liked it from the first one.

My question: is there a way to minimize this horrid aftertaste? It's getting to the point to where I'm going to throw in the towel because I feel like I'm about to gag. I've used mouthwash, gum, and water to try to minimize that lingering "flavor", but to no avail. I obviously cannot keep trying to order from different suppliers all the time, because all I feel like I'm doing is wasting money. Not only have I tried ordering my favorite flavor (cola) from many other suppliers, but have tried ordering other flavors as well -- in the smallest available sizes, that is, so I didn't end up with a major surplus of crap. I need to do something, because I really enjoy the convenience of vaping, as well as the fact that I'm already able to breathe better, can smell and taste things again (maybe TOO well), and don't smell like stale smoke any longer.

Any advice??? All comments are appreciated... Thanks again!

How much VG is in your juice? Some of my 50/50 juices leave a bit of an aftertaste, but nothing I can't live with.

Have you cleaned your attys? Dirty attys will sometimes cause the juice to taste nasty.

Have you tried dripping with a clean atty? That might help determine if it's actually the juice.

If you're using cartos, I've noticed that some juices just don't taste right in when vaped with a cartomizer.

Regardless of whether you're using cartridges or cartomizers, you need to make sure they aren't getting dry. Dry carts and cartos are going to taste horrible and it will eventually ruin them.

I've been keeping the carts and atty clean -- in fact, I thought that was the initial problem, but it didn't resolve anything. I did try a carto, and agree with you that the flavor didn't taste right then. I should say the taste isn't a burnt one (I've experienced that a couple of times when, in the early days, I did let the atty go dry)... it's sort of like a really bitter, diet-like aftertaste. When I get the option, I order very low VG. Should I order it with higher VG? It was my understanding that more VG meant less throat hit (but more vapor), and I'm really into the TH more than the vapor.

You could certainly try a little more VG and see if that fixes the problem. You can buy some plain VG (Humco brand USP) at Wal-Mart and try adding a couple of drops to your juice. Be warned that this is going to mute the flavor a bit and it'll decrease the nic level slightly.

Which flavor is not giving you the aftertaste? You might be able to find it with another vendor. The other thing you might want to try is DIY juice. I'm finally making that plunge and should get my kit this weekend.

The flavor that did not give me the aftertaste was Cola, but only from one of the suppliers... it has been out of stock, and I can't seem to get my hands on a viable replacement. With one of the other suppliers, I ordered it with low VG -- and there was no real aftertaste, nor any flavor to speak of at all (and almost no TH or vapor). Egads, what a mess... LOL

hi stormy... can you smell anything from the end of your cart or carto's?

the VG can be grabbed at walmart, CVS or walgreens < by the alcohol/hydrogen peroxide/witch hazel>- I sure would put a few drops in and see if that helps any
Everyone's tastebuds are different, which vendors have you ordered from? If you would rather not mention names, least jump over to the e-juice review section here and see if they are there...Some times the source that the vendor is getting their products from can be the difference between a fresh, clean taste to 'murky waters'
Hang in there!

Are you talking about that nasty, pasty almost chemical-like aftertaste? I get that with juices that are higher in PG. I do find that adding more VG to them fixes it some, so I try to either make my own higher VG juice or order premade with a higher percentage of it. PG is the culprit for me. Unfortunately, I still get it a little even with a higher VG or all VG mix (but much less pronounced) so it's just something I just have to live with. I usually keep a lemon water or diet mt. dew next to me all the time and sip on them constantly. My mouth gets quite nasty tasting in the morning and I do brush my teeth more often now, too.

I'm seeing a definite trend here -- add VG, and that's what I intend to do. Fortunately, there's a Walgreens about as far from my office as my car is, so I'm going to trot over there in a bit and see if that helps. I don't want to add a lot, for as I said earlier I prefer the TH to the vapor, and if I've understood correctly VG can trump the TH. And YES, the way Luvs5rugrats described the taste is pretty dead accurate... very chemical tasting. Of course, if The Vapor Pro ever gets into gear and makes more of its Cola, my problem is solved anyway! Thanks, everyone!

If you are getting that taste from almost every liquid you try, my guess would be more of a equipment problem than the juice itself. How old is the atty/cart/carto that your using. Is it doing it on more than one/all atomizers/cart/carto's that you have? What kind of equip are you vaping on and what is the voltage? It may end up being your pg/vg mix ratio but was just wondering what you are vaping on and what the voltage is, might want to lower or raise your volts, makes a big difference on how some juices taste and varies your TH. Good luck anyway hope you figure it out.
