I am fairly new here, but feel I can help some builders. I have watched every Coil re-build video that I can get my hands on because I always learn something new. What many lack is a stable way to produce consistent results. You may not know it, but you are in the same business of all of my Fly-tying friends who make minute fly's for trout fishing. The specialized tools of the fly tyer were designed to produce very tight coils of very fine thread (sound familiar?) I strongly suggest three tools that can be easily found at any Fly shop or on-line.

- A vise (Fly tying vises are small and strong. They hold your pin or what ever and allow you to stabilize your work. $12 and up
- A Bobbin (This allows you to control the release of your wire under extreme pressure while making your turns) $4 and up
- A Bodkin ( Think of it as a super needle with a handle. I have it in my vise and do the entire build on it $3 and up

O.K., not gonna bore you here. If You re-build and see these tools, you will get it right away. If You're not sure what the heck I'm talking about, let me know and I'll put up photos or video. Keep vaping

excellent info, would there be by chance a website you could recommend?

seems like a great way for those of us who don't have the tools required to make a coil jig
