The best place to get Ce5 replacement coil/wick

I was trying to find replacement coil/wick for my Ce5's and I seem to keep going in circles. I need replacement coil/wick for the Ce5 and I want the long wicks but some of the ones I have come across are either short wicks or some of them have 4 wicks instead of 2 like the ones I am currently using. Now I know I don't want the short wicks but does it matter if they have 4 instead of 2? What would the difference be? and where would be the best place to buy from? I think I looked at gotvapes and mtbakervapor and neither of them had what I was looking for. I checked them out because I've already done business with them and trust them. Any other reputable sites that have what I'm looking for?

IME, the 4 versus 2 wick is generally because they have different resistance values. Otherwise the same.

So you need to decide what resistance you want first.

Another thing to consider is that not all coils heads are equal. While most are interchangeable, some don't work with some CE5s. So the best bet is to get them from the supplier you got your CE5s from, to ensure compatibility.

Or, just get long wicks and cut them shorter.

But why short wicks? More need to tilt and swirl to keep them wet than the long wicks. With long wicks I find I don't need to remeber to do that until the level gets really low...

I do want long wicks. Since I couldn't find what I wanted online, I did go back to the store where I got my Ce5's and got some new heads. I got 5 for $15 . I just thought I might find them a bit cheaper online but I also like supporting my semi-local store. ( it is about 1 hour away). Thank for the help!
Just wondering, can you rebuild Ce5's?

That's not a terribly out of line price for heads.

On the CE5, replacing the head is the simplest rebuild. If you meant rebuild the head, yes, all you need is resistance wire and some wick. Many use 32 ga. Kanthal, 34 is also common. Wick can range from silica wick, in various thicknesses, to 100% cotton yarn, to teased out cotton balls, threads (many!) pulled from 100% cotton cheesecloth, and so on. Any wick NOT silica, or stainless steel mesh, or ceramic, will burn out if you try to dry burn the coil to de-gunk it.

Numerous threads on rebuilding coils, use the search box up top to narrow it down. :toast:

Thank you, David.
I just looked up some Ce5 rebuilds on youtube, and it doesn't look to hard. I might just try it. Yeah, replacing the heads is simple, I had to change one out today.
Do you know of a good place to buy the wire and silica? I want to try to rebuild a Ce5 and a Protank head, can I use the same wire and silica for both?

For small quantities of both / either, you can try places like GotVapes, Madvapes, and so on. If you decide you're going to recoil lots, then larger amounts (bigger spools, eg.) can be found via Amazon and EBay. There is a sub-forum on rebuilding for more hints on that.

Silica wick comes in different thicknesses, and different devices seem to work better or not... Again, the sub-forum might be the place to gather more experienced recommendations.

I just have some 3 and some 2 mm silica, and you can untwist a strand to get down to approx. 1 mm, and yes, the wick can be used on anything that uses wick.

Wire is the same, no matter what you want to rebuild. Keep in mind that the bigger the number on the wire, the higher its resistance. So, for example, 5 wraps of awg 34 would have a slightly higher resistance in the final coil than 5 wraps of awg 30. The choice depends on what value you want to get, and how many wraps will actually fit inside the head.
