Right out of the box, WOW! What a great
device. Just shut up and
buy it. I took this completely apart, including the button, and here are my thoughts:
- Don't take the button apart. Just don't. The magnets are strong and they used minimal glue to keep it in place. The inside magnet came out and I had to reglue. Kind of hard to get it back in and working, but it is do-able. All of this can be avoided by just not taking it apart in the first place. You don't need to.
-Silver, silver everywhere. Extra bottom spring was included, very nice. Everything that makes contact is silver plated (springs, both pins). Great drop voltage, very good performer.
- Floating pins on both sides of the button and reverse
threaded. I would tighten the outer part of the pins (the part that goes in the button housing) so that it doesn't come loose. It also makes the button smoother.
- Do yourself a favor and polish this right out of the box. It shines up really, really nice.
- The pants are 350 and 650, for 500 mode it takes an extension ring. I'm a 650 guy, so this doesn't matter to me at all.
Overall, it's a great performer and I have and will recommend this to my friends. Just don't take the button apart. There are very few top firing mechanicals and this one really is a charm and looks beautiful.
