In the past whenever I quit smoking I would constantly think about smoking. And whenever I was smoking I would always think about quitting. A real love hate relationship. There were times where I would go without thinking about lighting up but the urge was always there and I was reminded of it constantly. I smoked for a good part of 30 years and I absolutely loved it but at the same time I knew it would most likely cut my life short and I was really starting to feel the ill effects. It occurred to me, now that I vape, I am no longer haunted about the thought of starting smoking again. The absolute agonizing thought of actually picking up a cigarette and satisfying that crave is finally gone. The satisfaction of vaping equals if not surpasses smoking real cigarettes. To me, that is a miracle. For the first time in my life I am free from cigarettes. :)

Congtrats! I smoked for the better part of 30yrs too. I NEVER thought I would ever be able to quit smoking bc, like you, I actually enjoyed smoking (outside of the nasty smell...that *always* bothered me). I feel that vaping has saved my life and I won't go on about all the different flavors bc I'll never shut up! Lol

Again, CONGRATS and HAPPY VAPING!

What I like most about vaping is....
Everything I own (including myself) doesn't smell like an ashtray
I feel like I can breathe now
I don't burn holes in things anymore
I can actually enjoy different flavors that were once dull to me
I don't have a smoker's cough anymore, or feel sickly from smoking

There's a hundred and one reasons to start vaping instead of smoking. I enjoy vaping WAY more than I EVER enjoyed smoking. Plus, I have lots of new toys to play with now :vapor:

Well said Rhinsen. Pretty much the same experience I had, cept I smoked for about 42 years. Just the act of lighting a cigarette was such a habit that sometimes I would have 2 or, a couple of times, even 3 going in the ash tray at the same time.

I chain smoked at every opportunity. I was in denial of how much money was "going up in smoke". Not to mention the health factor.

I kept hearing those adds on the radio for the Smoke Assasin. A free trial for an electronic cigarette. Fortunately I did some online research and found ECF before I got caught up in the free trial mess.

I ended up ordering an Ego starter kit. The day I got it was the last time I smoked a cigarette.

Now I can vape freely in the house, in the car. Even at our Christmas get-together with a house full of non-smoking friends and relatives.

A few other reasons vaping is better than smoking:

Never again lighting the filter end by accident. (this always brought guffaws from both smokers and non-smokers)

Never again burning your fingers when the ciggy sticks to your lips, LOL.

No more stinky ash trays.

No more worry of burning the house down.

I can vape in bed.

Saves lots of money.

If I drop my PV in the car, it's not a problem.

Umm... not hacking like a cat with a hairball every morning.

Being able to taste food. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner was fantastic this year.

Not smelling like an ashtray. Never noticed it before but now I can smell a smoker from 30 feet away.

Being able to take a deep breath and hold it in without feeling like my lungs are going to explode.

No smelly fingers, no more holes in furniture, no more risking my life by stopping into shady corner stores for a pack of smokes... lol

and most of all... vanilla vape tastes much better than burned leaves and paper.

There are so many things about vaping that please me to no end. Everyone pretty touched on the big reasons; feeling better, breathing better, not stinking...
I love having a wide ranging choice of flavors and being able to switch just because I feel like it.
Now that winter is here it's really nice to not be forced outside in the wind and cold so I can slowly kill myself. A cozy fire and warm, delicious vape beats that out every time.
No burn holes in my clothes, furniture, carpet, car upholstery.
Being able to change my vaping experience by using different atomizers and battery configurations in a matter of seconds. You can't do that with an analog!

I agree with everything that has been stated about "the best things" about vaping. I guess my statement "The absolute agonizing thought of actually picking up a cigarette and satisfying that crave is finally gone" was my way of saying the struggle with ever going back to smoking has vanished forever. Happy Vaping!!!

I absolutely loved it but at the same time I knew it would most likely cut my life short and I was really starting to feel the ill effects.

That would have to be the number one best thing about vaping for me. Smoking just made me feel bad. Not just physically, but I felt bad about what I was doing to myself. I was always feeling like a failure because I couldn't give them up. I think of all of the feelings that I associated with smoking and there's guilt, sadness, fear, anger, ect... None of them were good.

Vaping opened up a whole new world that is filled with being healthier and learning new things everyday. I don't feel any of those bad things about it. Now it's anticipation, excitement, and pride. I'm just plain 'ol happy about doing it. That sure beats how I was feeling about smoking.

Amen to that! I hated feeling so ashamed about my smoking. Smokers are modern day lepers and I felt like a creep, sneaking away to get my fix so that I could be in a decent mood when I rejoined everybody. I have my dignity back!
