I haven't gotten a kit yet (almost ready thanks to the great post giving Top 3)--I'm sure I would only want tobacco flavored e-cigs. But do they really taste like cigarettes? I smoked Marlboros a long time and actually disliked every other brand. Switched to Lites and hated Marlboro lights but liked Winston lights but tried many many cheap brands of lites lately, all but one of which were nasty and got tossed. Oddly, it seemed to me that only if a cigarette had a cork-colored filter and a gold band was there a chance of it tasting OK. So, if anyone else out there also finds tobacco taste crucial, have you found a Marlboro flavor that really tastes like Marlboro? And, after years of smoking lights, should I go with a low nicotine level in e-cigs? Thank you so much!

Heh, been there, thought that. Didn't happen.

Since nothing is burned, nothing will taste exactly like smoking a cigarette. Are there good tobacco like flavors out there, yes. You will more likely find a tobacco flavor that is closer to a fine cigar or good pipe tobacco than it is a cigarette.

Check out the review forum E-Liquid Reviews - E-Cigarette Forum See if any reviews catch your eye. If you like reading reviews then another place to check out is E-Liquid Reviews

Now, I think Halo's Freedom and Torque56 are pretty good tobacco subs. Not as good as my own recipe that tastes just like a fresh Cuban Cigar, but pretty good.

Now the oddest thing happened when I started vaping and sampling juices. Everything I thought I would like, tobacco flavors, I didn't. All the weird flavors I thought were just too crazy to even be worth my time, TV's German Chocolate Cake, worked. After finding a nicotine level that would work, the next part was finding a flavor that gave that satisfaction. The destination I ended up at was nowhere close to where I thought I was going, but getting there is half the fun, so you have some good times ahead.

So, at one time, yeah, I thought the tobacco taste was critical and everybody going on about the other kinds of flavors were nuts. I also thought the PV had to look something and work something like a cig to work. I'm way past that now.

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy some tobacco flavors, but there is quite a bit out there to enjoy and you are much less limited with a PV. I always suggest newbies get a wide assortment of small bottles of different flavors and strengths because the first part, picking the hardware, is the easy part. Finding your nic strength and those flavors that just plain work, is where the real search is. Get what you think will work and get some that you think are just not going to work and then try them. (Hint, if they don't work, save them as your tastes will start changing pretty quickly and they may work for you in a few weeks.)

Have Fun and good luck!

Ive smoked Marlboro Reds for 29 years...no other cigarettes would really satisfy me. As mentioned above..vaping IS different, but the difference is hard to explain. The Vapor is not as thick or rich as cigarette smoke...but the flavor can actually be better. I use strictlyejuice's "Marl" flavor with 24mg nic.....its pretty close to a red, but after I was forced to smoke cigs one day because I ran out of juice, I realized that I actually like vaping the Marl better than smoking the Marlboro!!! I never expected that in a million years. Marl is the slightest bit sweeter than marlboro, and I got used to that real quick...I mean REALLY quick!!! Ive mixed my marl with a couple of drops of Vanilla Kona Coffee and didnt hate that either...it was different...but had kind of a nice aftertaste. As a fellow Red lover...I strongly suggest trying StrictlyEjuice's Marl...Im pretty sure you wont be dissapointed.

I think Hoosier hits the nail on the head, at least, based on my experience.

I also figured I'd get juice that would taste like Marlboro, my brand. When I got it, it really made my throat hurt and made me cough alot.

Keep in mind, vaping is NOT exactly like smoking! Once your taste buds start to come back (from what I've heard... I'm still vaping and smoking, but trying to quit cigs entirely), you'll find that it wasn't the TASTE you liked about smoking, it was the hand to mouth action, the blowing of plumes of smoke, but most of all, the nicotine. It was NOT that great tasting!

Halo has knocked my socks off! Love this stuff, and it's really given me hope to finally stop analog cigs completely! Doesn't cause me to cough nearly as much, has a nice, smooth taste, and great throat hit.

I'm now vaping Halo's Freedom and Halo's Smooth 8, and love it. :vapor:

Only problem with Halo is, they don't offer smaller sized bottles to allow people to try out their flavors.

Good luck!

Thank you all so much, and congrats to u TxTumbleweed. I'm intrigued by people finding out they now like menthol -- I've gotten pretty addicted to Altoids BTW, t6 use after smoking, and now I'm wondering if something delicious pepperminty might be great and take care of both addictions at once, LOL! I am definitely going to get some samples of various kinds. But also your recs, Resist, even if no samples available -- somebody else who liked the Winston lights was exactly what I was looking for. I want to be prepared for everything once my stuff arrives so I can't weasel out of it by saying no, I don't like this flavor, or no, it's too complicated--and I know that is highly likely. My smoking self is a weasely rascal for sure.

You may find non tobacco flavors helpful. I have found that after making the switch, vaping cherry or pear or vanilla juice helped me to disassociate the taste of tobacco from smoking tobacco. Also, some people around me have noticed that tobacco flavors smell pretty bad to them, where a good vanilla or something is more tolerable to be around (my employees are proud of me quitting analogs, so they have been very tolerant of me vaping all the time at work.. but anyone who cares about their people will try and use the stuff those around them are agreeable to)

I never ever ever...found a juice that tasted like a cigarette. In fact i really think that is not possible. Let's try and ask a baker or cook to make us a cake that tastes like cigarette smoke: not possible.

Now...tobacco is somewhat different...the tobacco leaf i mean and that i could only find at Tasty Vapor. It tastes like a tobacco tea would probably taste. And to my surprise...i LOVE it.

Nice clean taste that stands out among all my other flavors.

What i do/did used to hate (i just don't buy them anymore) is a so called tobacco juice that tastes sweet...or herbal...or liquorish. But thats just me..the other day i gave a smoker a test on most of my juices (sounds weird...). The fact is SHE loved only one....and that was one i had sitting for months since i started to vape... Yes...it was a rebottled version of Dekang Virginia...it tastes like fresh pieces of grass from your lawnmower!

I was a Marlboro man myself and I haven`t found anything that tastes just like it, I do find myself still a fan of tobacco flavors. There are just so many good ones that I don`t think you`ll really be craving that particular taste. The 555 which evidently is a UK brand cig id great. All 3 of the cignot samplers are great. Mar-Boh light from vicking vapor is awesome, and I`ve yet to try the RY4 that everyone raves about. Tobacco has aslightly sweet flavor to it that you don`t taste in an analog, but you do when vaping. If you are set on tobacco try any of the ones I mentioned, and while everyone is different I doubt you`d be at all disappointed.

Well and update to my previous post. I was bored this morning and decided to try the 18MG Mboro flavor I ordered with the Tornado from Totally Wicked. I hadnt tried this due to the fact I had gotten all the Vapor Bomb samples, and it was lower nicotine. To my surprise it vapors great, tastes good, and gives a nice throat hit. It also doesnt have as much "sweetness" aftertaste (still some there though) like the others I have tried.
