Although I don't agree that the BB needs VW there is a distinction. VW can give you smaller incremental changes to the perfect vape. For example 4.0 v on a 2.5ohm cart is 6.4w and 4.1V is 6.7w and 4.2v is 7w. For each 1v increment there is a .3w difference. If you can change at .1w increments you can dial in a more specific vape experience.

Don't forget the unit is a continuously variable voltage adjustment! As an example it can be set from 4V to 4.01 or 4.02 or 4.03 etc etc.
but I think you would need to have a very steady hand and very small turns of the adjustment wheel. 4V with 2.5 ohms gives 6.4W a voltage of 4.025V gives 6.48W (less than .1W) and now move the dial to get 4.05V and that gives 6.56W. So in theory we should be able to adjust in at least .1W increments. The only VW device, that I know that can adjust in .1W increments is the Dawin, as mentioned earlier. The only place I know that you can get one at the moment is the classifies in which it hardly ever show up and if it does it is gone in minutes.

Billet Birthin' Update Feb_16th

ok guys, here's the status report. this update is going to be pretty quick as i'm finishing up some stuff tonight to get ready for a big shop cleaning tomorrow,,,, then monday, i actually assemble some boxes, hand those boxes to wife lady to pack up and drive to the post office!!! I think the way things are going to go with the shipping, will be two or three shipments a week until the end of Feb to get everybody on the pre order list out their little aluminum babies…. The first on the list will be the first to ship out, the ones on the back end of the list can expect to ship the end of the month… so, keep a look out for tracking #'s….
We are in overdrive here in the shop, and i have lost a little interest in picture taking in the rush to get all i need to get done, done. My priority at the moment is you all on the pre order list and little else, so my focus is work. Today I am just going to show off the last of the aluminum porn, and then get back to work. Oh, before i forget, my sanding and polishing guy lost his billet box at Brewskis on 25th street in Ogden, so if your around there keep you eyes down and hunt around the pool tables…..( nope, he won't get a replacement until all the pre orders are out…., he is one sad panda)

Inner Plate,
this is one part that didn't get any changes from prototype code as they were kinda perfect the first time, so that was kind nice to not have to re write something for a change,,, i just throw some barstock into dev...

and she dose things to it…

k, well actually here i did decide to change the code a little bit. When i did all that new engraving on the slide covers with the made in USA and all that, i used a different engraving bit and liked the cut it was leaving better, so I tweaked it just a little and used the new engraving bit here too… i'm a good bit happier with it… Good call me! Thanks! Your welcome. I know. God i'm lonely……

DSC00069_zpsc9ff75c5.jpg

so, here we go um popped out after there first machining round… but before I flip um and machine the back side, now is the time to fill the engraving….
DSC00071_zps32914590.jpg

I tried a ton of different stuff for engraving fill, acrylic paint, pigmented lacquer, ect… but I have settled on a two stage epoxy with mixed carbon for color…. make a little batch and then scrape it into the engraving with a razor… All this engraving looks really hot without being filled, but the dial absolutely needs to be filled to be easy to read and it just looks funny if it is filled and this part isn't…
DSC00074_zpsc1af9985.jpg

after the filler is dry, the excess gets scraped away and I do a brush finish on the inner cover so it looks pretty,,, i forgot to take a picture of this as the UPS guy then delivered a new toy and we naturally had to immediately take it out of the box and say hi to it… it's a wet belt sander for the sanding and polishing monkey (did i mention HE LOST HIS BILLET BOX AT THE BAR? yah i did, but i just want him to read this thread and reflect) to help drop sanding times…
DSC00087_zps380d45af.jpg

i got one other tool this week too,,,, it's call the sleeping box…. it is deceivingly comfy thanks to the little air packing thingys…
DSC00061_zps476cf63b.jpg

k, back to it… Now i can flip um' and they get held in this jig,,,, It's an old jig and i don't like it much but i'm not in a jig making mood so i'll keep it in service a bit longer…
DSC00075_zps6bc8ad33.jpg

and apparently i forgot to take a picture of what came next too…. sheesh… Anyway, other things happen, and then they come out like this….
DSC00079_zps2dac2279.jpg

yahhaaa, all done…..

k, sorry for the short update, but i need to get back to making these other stuffs….. tomorrow i clean the shop,,, omg it's a mess (like bombed), and get all ready to do some final assembly and get some in the post!!!!

Hi Doug,

Just curious if you think/want the Billet Box to remain in the realm of the Zenisis (high demand/low availability) or if you're shooting to have inventory available for all of us addicts in a VERY!! short period of time. I mean it looks like you're doing EVERYTHING by hand on a single CNC - (Oh, before I forget "Holy heck Man! Your Billet Box is a freaking work of art and an engineering feat unsurpassed by none!! Mad props to You and your team") and it looks like a lot of work that would take months just to make 100 pcs. All of which I'm sure would sell out in less than 24 hrs. leaving many feeling depressed and despondent for months on end.

I mean, I work full time, have a family, etc. and can't be at my computer 24/7 waiting for the one 30 min. period at 7:17p on Wednesday night every 3-4 months that you might do a limited release. So, tell you what...I'm just going to leave my credit card here and you just go ahead a charge whatever you need to and I'll just look for it in the mail in a bit.. OK??

LOL. No, we don't want it to be in short supply, but it will be for a few months to come. We have more machines coming (will take many weeks to implement), I have people to train,, it will take some time to get running 100% and we don't even know what 100% is number wise yet... I don't want anybody to have to fight to get one, but for the next few months, yup, they will be a little hard to find (unless you find one on the floor at the bar where my polisher lost his.......)

WHOOT!! Outstanding again Doug! I like the bed box. I used to frequent a similar model years ago but it wasn't quite as fancy. Some people have all the right toys- mills, sanders, fancy berths, Monkeys... I am truly sorry for your Monkey's loss, I just hate I wasn't at the bar that night.

I can almost smell that LHD box.

I lost mine in my local Ikea...I had been testing furniture and it slipped out of my cargo pocket. I walked the entire store before I realized it.
People were giving me looks like I was crazy while I was tossing cushions from each piece of furniture trying to find it. I eventually did, thankfully. It has a zippered pocket now.

Well, I'm now even more sad that I missed the pre-orders. I will be stalking your site though, be sure of that.

Electronics does usually bore me, even though I need a rudimentary understanding for my job. I love your updates. I am amazed at the attention to the tiniest detail. That is proof that this is going to be amazing. If I get no other device, ever, I will have yours.

Thank you so much for your time and hard work.

Fully recognizing that I'm not a moderator nor owner of the thread and will probably regret this, I'll just leave this here:

<soapbox>

I think a lot of folks would appreciate it if contentious personal discussions could be moved to PM or somewhere else.

While it's a free country/forum/Internet/whatever and maybe not everyone sees it this way, it is not very respectful to Doug Dino (and everyone else here) to drag out a who-gets-the-last-word contest that does not contribute to the community of all the current and soon-to-be Billet Box owners looking for nothing more than to share information and a common enthusiasm.

No judgement, just an observation.
