Think I just found out why I was having an issue. I bought AW and Efest batteries at the same time. I have only been using the Efest as they are 850mha. Tried the lower mha AW batteries today which are much more loose. So guess the Efest are a tiny bit bigger.
The AW batteries popped right out with only a slight tap.

So lately I've had to loosen and tighten the brass screw every time I pull the BB out of my pocket just to get a connection. It won't fire unless I loosen and then tighten the screw. I can remove the battery door and put it back on and it wouldn't fire anymore until I "reset" the ring. Very annoying.

I keep everything clean too, noalox on the screw too.

Any ideas?

Assuming the brass screw and where the BB threads are clean, and the brass positive connection where the carto makes contact, it must be the carto positive pin barely making contact. My money is on the carto.

The thing is, this has probably been the issue with the last 5 boxes of cartos that I've used. I constantly have to keep "resetting" the brass screw :/

Once it's "reset" it starts working as normal until I put it in my pocket. I pull it out later, screw is still as snug as it was to start, but it won't fire until I reset it again. I guess it serves as some kind of off switch lock, but it definitely isn't normal imo.

what carto's you using? i have this problem with a kanger now and again. if it boges, i'de say ensure your brass screw is clean and free of corrosion, and also, wiggle that center pin of your carto out just a hair more. i go for center pin extending out past the negative terminal (or the threads)

also, is it just one tank? maybe not quite right tank that slipped through the cracks. >>> or more than one? tanks def seated all the way back? still not firing? maybe go the opposite direction, try closing the door, slappin it on your hand (door side down) then tightening. so it's actually offset a little and one side of the carto gets a strong contact with the brass. i do this last one often with my kangers.

my mistake in the learning curve with the billet box was focusing too much on the brass ring and not the positive contact on the bottom, if you can't resolve this brass ring issue, this might be what is it for you too. make sure the carto is down far enough past that little lip of platic on the tank, the one with the air holes. i was so hyper focused on the brass ring during some problems i forgot about that part.

hope some of this helps

Hey there bud! If I were you I would not use noalox on the screw because it is highly toxic and you dont want that to leak into what you are vaping. The best way to clean it in my opinion is toothpaste and a toothbrush - that will shine the hell out of the brass and the contact will be really good.

I'd also recommend against using noalox on the threads. IMO it would be very easy to contaminate the carto, or at the least breathe in the fumes.

As far as the not firing issue, it sounds like it could be the short circuit protection kicking in. Have you checked to see that the cartos' positive pins are straight enough? I had a few boxes of votes that had consistently crooked center posts that needed straightening to avoid shorts.

I've had similar issues wih carto's and the bottom pin not being out far enough. I sometimes have to loosen the brass fitting a bit to get it to fire. Pulling the pin out on the carto a touch has helped.

Curious if anyone is going to start a Billet Box group or ask an admin nicely to add it to the APV Model Specific Discussion? This bad boy thread is getting looooong. Also be nice to see headers for questions and answers. Anyway, just askin'. :vapor:

How about some 'like' love as a show of hands for the cause? Or is that just wrong? hehe

Hey, finally got around to stop lurking and get my post count high enough to post in this thread and apply to the classifieds.

Had my Billet for about 3 months now. Great device, nothing beats it for leaving the house.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi =P

I second that. It would be cool to have a separate forum for the BB. Hmm.. Let me ask Doug to see if I can create him a forum that can run on his domain. ;)
