You will not return from the micro coil with cotton (or hemp fiber...not rope...blah). I started turning all my brand new unpunched cartos into spare Condor parts. Still have a few slotted and prepunch cartos that haven't seen the light of day in while (emergency supplies...just in case of zombie outbreaks and the such).
Just FYI, not sure how well they will fit in the Diver, but I have started making my micro coils with a 4-40 machine bolt. Saw a video on youtube and they work out great. I wrap them on the threads, unscrew the coil, pre-oxidize the coil with a lighter, clamp down in tweezers or hemostats and torch the hell out of them. Makes a perfect coil every time with lots of air space in the center (I mount my coils vertical). Anyway, just FYI for those interested.
I mount my coils above the ceramic of the v2. There is no need to squeeze it into the cup with the v2, or the v1 Diver for that matter. I have all my coils in carto RBAs mounted above the cup with cotton ball wick, they work perfectly. In fact, they work better in terms of wicking than any other setup I've tried.
I build a 28g R/32g NR coil at about 1.8 ohms, I could probably add an extra loop or two and get it up to a little above 2.0 ohms and still fit it comfortable in the v2 above the CE2 cup. I might try 30g R later to build a higher-resistance coil.

AWESOME! Loved the video!
