second: i support makin' it all yours 100082%, I know it will look great, i'll do a little test for ya with one of our old code polished bodies that will give an idea what you could expect with different scratchy things... bestill is right on with the scotchbrite, that's a popular aluminum finishing method, steel wool will work too but it gets a little messy and you don't want the little bits of steel wool dust making there way into the cracks between the carbon and such... i don't move so he can shoot me was also right on about the ground work that sanding/polishing monkey dose, after that, you can remove scratches, dull it, bring it back to shiny, with just a little effort. I'll do a few things to a body and post on Sat, i will have another stupid short update on Sat as we are still in bust .... mode, but i'll touch on surface finish a bit....
