Last night I set the Diver up for wick lined up to the hole. Seemed to work well with 70/30, but I topped off with something else that is 50/50 and was getting not-quite-dry-but-definitely-not-wet hits - harsher hit, less flavor in very short order.

Today I shifted from in-line to 90-degrees out and things are MUCH better with this slightly thicker than 70/30 liquid mix. Still a very slight gurgle on the first draw but every draw after is better. After a bit of use the coil has "settled" a bit. At just the right voltage the hits are warm, smooth and VERY tasty with lots of vapor.

My guess is that three setups are worth considering:

1. Wick-in-line: Wick at 0/180 degrees, in line with the hole, for very thin liquids;
2. Wick-at-90: Wick 90 degrees out/perpendicular to the hole, for thicker liquids;
3. Wick-to-edge: Only some portion of the edge of the wick touches touch the hole, offset determined by user, allowing for some flexibility in how much of the wick is near or on the hole to increase/decrease liquid flow and wicking.

Pondering on it, another factor to consider is how much the wick is trimmed / how much wick is sticking out from the ceramic cup. Too much wick could result in poor wicking, too little could result in easier flooding.

Combined with the (apparent but not verified by me) need for NR/R/NR coils and depending on one's views, the Diver looks to be either very flexible, or very finicky. Probably both.

Prepping NR/R/NR coils looks fiddly but do-able. FWIW, I found that the included 2.0-ish ohm coil uses about 1.5" of resistance wire. Based on that I have three spools of wire on the way: 34ga Nickel NR wire, 34ga Kanthal (which should make for a ~3.3 ohm coil at 1.5") and 36ga Nichrome (which should make for a ~2.8 ohm coil @ 1.5").

... to the Vape Cave, Robin!

My ravens get delivered today too!

I'm a bit concerned about the plastic sleeve also, I won't slice them down until I get some confirmation on that lol

Hey Silent! GLAD you chimed in!! ;-) Yeah ... Me either! It's hard to really see whether sleeve is plastic or metal (???)

Hah I'm not sure, mine show "out for delivery" so I won't get them until I'm home.

Does the sleeve come out at all? If it's mended to the metal then I guess you just gotta cut right through it lol. I think absinthe mentioned putting some cotton in there to catch the metal shards too. It might even help to wrap the whole thing in masking tape before cutting it to get an even slice. That's what I used to do when I slotted CE2's heh.

Ummmmm ... You think I'm gonna try to pull that sleeve out?!!! N A D A!!! I'd never get it back in right! LOL! Yeah ... Well that's more than 2 mm's off ... And DEFINITELY going to cut thru that sleeve!! Hmmmmm ... ???? And yep ... Cotton ball to catch anything that might fly down in there. STRESSFUL ... Just thinking about "tinkering"!!! Haha! ;-) Hopefully somebody will help us out!

Lol, I mentioned removing the sleeve because I'm not really sure how long the sleeve itself is. Maybe it's kinda "floating" there and can be placed right back in without any cutting after the metal tube is cut. I really don't know though lol. I ordered 3 of them, so I'll test cut on a dummy carto and try to get the first raven cut correctly haha

This thing is even more beautiful in person than in pictures. I can't believe it cleared customs without adding another $90 on top, making it ... well, it still is the most expensive mod I own.

It's also SO MUCH SMALLER than I thought it would be. This thing is amazing.

Still no batteries! I have some on the way (2 x 2), which should be here Saturday. Until then, it'll ... just have to sit and look good.

That is awesome news Ihavelund glad to hear customs took it easy on you! Just in time for the weekend enjoy buddy!

Okie Dokie ... I have the Raven! Now help me if I'm wrong here, but looks to ME (and I'm a FEMALE & no techie tool time one so please go easy on me!) that there is WAY more than 2 mm's that needs to come off to make this fit in the BB tank! I think in terms of jewelry ... 2 mm's is just a tad over 1/16". Here's pic of Raven & standard size carto!

(Ummmmmm Kattttttt ... Even a HUGE nail file won't be getting this job done!! Haha! ;-))

AND ... If I (not ME that's for SURE!) take this down to same height as a standard carto ... I'm going to also be cutting thru this little sleeve INSIDE the Raven carto. Is this right? Here's the pic ...

I tried pulling the inner plastic sleeve...it is stuck in there good...gave up. I just cut it when I cut the tube, after all with the BB you don't have to get a drip tip in it. Use an exacto knife or similar after cutting the tube back to clean up the edge of the plastic.

The 2mm was what you have to cut off the Diver, not the Raven. I thought I posted somewhere I took off about 10mm.

Ahhhhh ... OK ... That sounds more like it -- 10 mm's! And thank you Absintheur!

Meanwhile ... I have a Raven in a grommet tank! I must say ... QUITE IMPRESSED so far! Plumes of vapor and nice clean non-filler taste! When the standard size Raven's are available ... I know I'll be getting some! I did have a few drops come through the battery end when I filled up my tank. None leaking now. Going to do what Absintheur advised and use in my tank for a day or so just to see how it goes! So far ... It's pretty darn good! :D I'm pretty sure if I can get one cut down ... A Raven will be in my precious BB tank by the weekend! ;-) BTW ... Not sure why it's called a "carto" ... Carto size ATTY is more accurate! ME LIKEY!!

Here's one in my little 3 ml grommet tank (Kinda funny looking ... But WORKS!)

HELP!!! And thank you!

got ya covered, just follow my steps,

1st mark it for the cut,
2nd use your porta-band with a 28tpi blade to make the cut, leave 1mm long to flush later with your belt sander...
3rd chuck it to your lathe and machine down the flange, round 1200sfm is fine for hss tooling, little faster if your using carbide..
4th use the parallel guide in your belt sander to flush the porta-band cut

piece a cake..... j/k, happy file'ing!!!

I threw one in, i cut through that sleeve thing, it was plastic, no problems leavin' it in place...

as for how the thing vapes,,,, ehh,,, filled the tank with 65/35 pg/pv (nlv boba fett), wasn't wickin' well at lower voltage and was burning pretty bad... higher voltage helped the wick'in as it drops the juice viscosity... but still, i have had a LOT of bad hits today... right now it seems pretty stable at 4.75 - 5v as long as i don't chain vape... this is going to take some time to figure out... I have certainly have had 5 pack boxes of cartos with three bad ones in the box, so I fully understand that just this one i'm tinkering with now is not going to give me the full story on these ravens... but i did get a handful of um so i have some room to play...

raven update, fixed the wicking issue i was having for the short term, just slide the BB door down a bit, push on the faceplate for a bit of force feeding into the wick/cup,,,, nice... definitely tastes like a good old atty... i'm happy now i can chain vape it (today is kinda stressful so i need to chain vape it)! stable and warm vapor (not super warm, but good) at 5.15v and choked the daywalker when i handed it to him for a pull... so that's a plus!

It seems like pushing on the tank fixes a whole lot of things...lol.

Hey Doug, if my nitrile ball is giving me some air bubbles but isn't leaking, is it fine to use? I've tried reseating it and that worked temporarily, but I'm gettin some bubbles again. It vapes fine though, no issues. Oh and I'll deliver on my promise over the weekend btw, I've been dead as crap from papers. Just wrote a 28 pager last night lol.

Got Raven loaded in a tank to learn nuances. Ignore the silly tank contraption....LOL....looks dufus like.....(but its for science).

So far.....zero leaks, no dry hits, and good flavor.....I think we have something here for our BB's. Gonna vape a few tank fulls before I start cuttin. Clean taste like atomizers of yesteryear....hmmmmmm...nice :) (now lets see if it lasts).
