So, I'm curious. Has there been any definitive call on where vaping had it's birth? Where was it started? And I'm talking strictly nicotine vaping here. It seems like alot of the review vids I watch are done by UK people, but that doesn't necessarily mean it started there.

I did a few searches but the results were mostly about peoples individual starts vaping, and not of the practice itself. I'm just curious.

Anyone?

It's interesting to think about... seems like since everything comes from China it would have began there huh :p I have been told that a few years back, 2 or 3, in the Netherlands they were really getting into these ecigs then they were banned for awhile and are now legal again but who knows... I'm just happy I am part of the vape revolution!!

There's a list of some of the major Chinese inventions here:

Chinese Culture - Chinese Inventions

I should add the E-cig.

And there will be many more. The Chinese are now into science and technology in a big way.

I considered China to be the birth place given that so many of the parts are made there. But they manufacture SO many things that they did not invent that I did not want to go by that alone. Much like the fact that the majority of the vids I've watch on new products have been by UK members.

We do like our gadgets :)

I don't see chopsticks on there ! or nunchucks! :(
Personally, I own both and find them to be pretty useful. Especially the nunchucks as a back scratcher or for giving yourself a good ...-whooping for doing something stupid like applying the e-juice to the toothbrush! 8-o

First applied patent for ecigs is from China:

Guy name Hon lik

European patent is: EP1 618 803B1
This guy is from RUYAN company that many internet articles claim they are the first company to produce e cigs and that they have invented them. (Including Wikipedia) THey are from Hong Kong

The only problem is that e cigs started as ultrasonic models. Now they are heating resistence models(produced by other companies) who changed them? I dont know.
Anyways both work right(for the purpose they wanted to achieve) since vapor is the only product of heat transfer that doesnt make or produce tar. All other kinds of products from heat transfer (for example any combustion) produces tar.

Saludos!

my own take on the scene minus what might be considered SD spam..

#####

first we had ruyan.. they have a patent on a fancy ultrasonic atomizer but somehow it never made it into the marketed product.. this was roughly three years ago..

the first products were not cigarette shaped.. more along the lines of a luxury cigars and pipes.. they didnt come cheap.. in fact they were expensive with expensive consumables..

they came with a five year guarantee.. the guarantee was financed by the high profits on the consumables.. this high cost of the consumables in itself limited the amount of use the device would get..

the market they were aimed at was the better off smoker.. they were never intended to replace tobacco products simply supplement them.. things to be used in the restaurant and places where real smoking wasnt considered socially acceptable.. in essence occasional use.. they served the purpose they were in intended to at a high price.. the perfect present for a rich wife to buy for her gadget loving hubby..

so what went wrong.. well.. people copied the original device.. people bought the copies for reasons ruyan never intended them to be bought for.. a full time replacement for real cigarettes..

some sellers followed the original ruyan high price long guarantee concept.. but there is a move away from this as people do not wish to be locked into the high priced consumables now that cheaper alternatives exist..

so we have a product designed for occasional use being used all day and every day as a full time tobbaco replacement..

a product being used for a purpose it was never intended to be used for.. a product with a very short life span if given heavy use.. a product with major built in problems..

batteries that dont last very long before they need replacing.. atomizer that follow the same pattern..

this would not be so bad if people bought these things knowing the problems.. to be honest i dont even think most of the sellers know the problems..

so we have what seems a wonderfull device that in reality fails a lot of its users.. and its sellers.. they have to take the come back for regular parts failures..

so along comes the "xxxxxxxx".. it only exists because none of the more common products serve the purposes people want of them.. something that simply works and with reasonably cheap long term running costs..

the xxxxxxx is built to satisfy the needs of the heavy user.. it uses (cheap) off the shelf atomizers.. liquids and carts.. in short a long haul smoking system thats as good as current technology can provide at an affordable cost..
