Hey guys, so I thought I'd share my experiences with Crystal Clear vaping and an issue I had with my Bolt mod.
The Bolt is my first real mod. I vaped about 2 years ago when my wife and I got some Joye510's and some juice.
I wasn't really satisfied with them as the vapor production was just too weak to replace my pack a day habit.
Long story short, we ran out of money in a big way and couldn't even afford to buy juice.
2 years later, I'm back into it, haven't bought a pack of smokes for myself in 2 weeks and have been really happy with the Bolt.
I bought the Bolt from crystalclearvaping.com, a tank, a carto and an extra battery.
After about a week of vaping juice from Mt Baker Vapor, the Delrin endcaps on the tank started to melt.
Literally, melt. Like tires that have caught fire. If you touched them, they made sticky strings of melted Delrin from the caps to your fingers. The Polycarb tank itself became hazy and coated in melted plastic..
The Juice was key lime from Mt Baker along with some menthol. From what I understand, some juices with heavy citric acid content can melt caps and things.
In any event, Andrew at CCV said to just return it and he would promptly send me another one.
I ended up keeping it, because I liked the carto so much and didn't really have another like it, but it was nice that he offered to replace it.
About 2 weeks into using my Bolt, it stopped working. Multimeter testing confirmed that no continuity existed across the positive pole.
I called Andrew and he, again, offered to replace the unit. Seeing as I didn't have a backup, I opted to try to open up The Bolt and see what the hell happened.
What happened is that when screwing the two halves of the body together, the positive side of the battery can twist the positive pole around clockwise. Do this enough times and the wire breaks.
If you pull out the positive pole with some needle nose pliers, SLOWLY you can see the wire its connected to. Mine was broken so I pulled it out all the way, got a screwdriver and removed the cap that houses the innards and saw the twisted wire.
In the end, I soldered it back, and hot-glued the pole in place so it can't twist. I suspect super glue would work just as well.
Then I put it all back together and it works fine.
I reported all of this to Andrew so he can inform anyone that has the same issue that wants to try to fix it themselves.
Andrew at Crystal Clear vaping has been great and, in spite of my bad luck, I can't blame him for any of it.
He's always gone above and beyond for me and I anxiously await the delivery of some cartos as we speak.
All in all, I recommend them highly.
