Hi, I just started as well - Its been 3 days and I've had 2 "analogs"... I think I spent around 75 or so for everthing. I'm sold on it, so far it much more convenient than smoking.

I kinda wish I went with a US suppler though. Ordered (510 kit) from Ruyandirect and one of the battery's is bad and they want me to send it back on my dime.

Keep in mind you'll most likely want to get good e-liquid which will cost a bit more but I think it's worth it (US guys).

Good luck and don't give up before you start!

Wow.... I want to thank each of you for your invaluable information and help. I'm so stoked. I feel like I'm making an informed decision and when it get's down to the nitty gritty--it's still better than smoking analogs with their myriad of chemicals and nasties. A little investment, a little trial and error, and I'll still be on top. I hope that I have the same positive results as so many of you have had. Again, THANK YOU!

I'll be ordering my first e-cig today! *insert stupid grin on face here*

When I started out, I spent a lot.

However, for the month of June, (no new vaping device purchases), I spent $96.96. That was two bottles of Wicked E-Liquid. This covered 2 people for the full month and I have almost a full bottle left over.

You do start out vaping "more" as you get accustomed. But, over time, you tend to just vape when you need it. As you can see, this past month was actually a very low cost.

I use the Dura-C/JoyE 510 vaporizer. It works perfectly. Totally Wicked has great deals on this vaporizer. I think you would find your expenses for smoking would drop 33% within 3 months.

Using your own words: "for those with fixed incomes"....this is a budget saver. Not a rich man's habit.

I agree - start up costs need to be considered. I also agree with the opinions here, that can be minmized to determine if this works for you Michelle - sounds like you're going to give it a whirl. Good - it's the only way to really find out if you're going to like it, and if you do if the initial investment and overall effort is worth it for you.

I've gotten the Npro Njoy. Although I probably would have gotten a different model as first choice, Costco had it and I was nervous about all of the issues surrounding delivery so I chose the 'safest' route I saw. I've since seen there are other reliable suppliers and options too.

Net result - I don't know what I don't know, but I do know the Npro Njoy, "RN 4081" is working fine for me and it seems to be the perfect fit for my needs and preferences.

I'm off tobacco ciggies after 4 weeks, and I transitioned slowly. The overall start up and "set up" investment, including refill juice was about 170.00 including extra atomizers and batteries. I'm now at about 200 dollars. That's averaged 50 bucks a week. I'll have a full month ahead of me, current stock and stuff. That will bring the cost down tas I go. I don't "vape" a lot it seems, compared to others. Not knowing the lifespan of all the equipment involved, I'm budgeting 50 bucks a month - if that holds true, I'll be saving up to 150 dollars a month over my previous expenses. (fingers crossed)

There are lots of possibilities fortunately - I've been really glad to see all the discussion here, it helped a lot reading up on this board.

Best wishes for success!

Also, ask yourself, what price to you put on better health, and (hopefully) longer life?

Exactly! I constantly tell myself that just to justify the expense in my mind. Because I have spent more upfront than I ever intended. I've basically spent my entire years worth of cig money in 45 days. But I feel better and it is worth it!!!

I agree with the great advise to try sampler packs of juice. I bought a bunch of juice I thought I would love and don't. I'll try it again in a couple months and if I still don't like it I'll probably sell it. But live and learn. :p

Well.....it's done.
After much research (my husband the non-smoker was absolutely thrilled to help out) I've ordered the Joye510C from Vapor Station out of Texas. Total cost was a little more than originally planned at $81.75 for tax, title and license, but I just had to try a flavor as well--"Rush"--I'm guessing it's like a RedBull or something. Anyway, I chose Vapor Station because it's in the states, their shipping cost at $10.00 was reasonable, and the kit included all the goodies that I felt I wanted. I'm crazy excited!

Again, thank you to everyone with all your help and information. I'll write back as soon as I get my hands on the beastie.

ps...after I had ordered and paid for the device, I was checking my e-mail and received a confirmation message back from Vapor Station. Turns out the company is based in the town I grew up in in Texas! How cool is that???

Congrats! Glad you finally took the plunge and made your purchase. :)

Please do let us know when you get it and how it works for you. I know my family and friends are so proud that my mom and I finally got off the analogs. Glad your hubby is part of the process and hope he continues to provide you the support you need in your efforts to quit the cigs!

Congrats!

I was glad to see so many helpful, positive responses regarding the costs associated with vaping.

Truth is, there are some of us who spend an obnoxious amount of money on this habit. However, there is absolutely no reason that vaping MUST cost an arm and a leg.

After an initial startup cost of around $100, I could probably vape for about $50 a month, and that includes two new atomizers and one new battery a month in addition to my liquid.

I must respectfully request that no one share that particular tidbit of information with my husband. I have informed him that this is a very, very expensive habit but entirely necessary for me to stay off analogs. If he were to learn how cheaply one could vape, my access to new toys might be somewhat curtailed.

For the low, low cost of 1 bottle of juice per month, my lips are sealed.....

I won't tell your's if you don't tell mine! If my hubby knew what I've spent on my new toys, why he'd, he'd......8-o:-x
Shoot, with the stuff he's been getting for his motorcycle lately, I don't think I have to worry.

Just my 2 cents here: Start up costs are about one carton of your favorite analogs for your average ecig startup kit and then the cost of another analog carton for the replacement parts like spare batteries, attys, juice, etc. Then once you learn how to drip your favorite nic juice and pack old cartridges on occasion with new wicking material...daily cost will be minimal! Even if you are a fairly heavy vaper, a $15 to $20 30ml bottle of your favorite juice will surely last a goodly while. I'm estimating that such a bottle is the equivalent of between 3 and 5 CARTONS of analogs depending on how you smoked and how you vape now. So after initial startup, the math is quite easy to do. You will be helping yourself by being healthier, or at least not actively killing yourself, and you will most certainly be saving money.

Your math is way off man. At best, 30ml is about 1 carton.

I purchase and supply all my wife's equipment and supplies. On June 22 2009 she received her first starter kit a dse 901 and one 20ml bottle of Marlboro 18 juice. At the same time I kew she would want to try some samplers of flavored juice so I ordered 5 3ml bottles of assorted flavors. In 13 days she has used about 1/2 of her original 20ml juice and maybe 6ml of the samplers. So thats about 16ml all total in 13 days or right at 1.2 ml a day. she was a pack a day analog smoker and seem to me a pretty constant vapor. we also had a minor emirgency when her original battery charger just quit working so I ordered a new one form a local vendor along with and extra battery and car adapter cable.
Or total costs to date are as follows
Original starter dse901 + 20 ml juice = $68 shipped
Sampler bottles of juice (5X3ml) = $13 shipped
Replace Chager+1 car cable+ 1bat = $30 local pickup
Total Cost To date (13 days so far) = $111.00 or $8.53 per day

The good news is that we have supplies that should last at least 30 days and if that is true the total cost per day will only be $3.70. Analogs cost about $5 per pack here so we would spend about $150 on them so we will save about $39 the very first month.

It is going so well that I am going to order her a second kit the joy 501 with pcc and maybe 60 ml of juice next month. This way she can switch between the 901 and the 501 and have plenty of spare parts for awhile. I expect it will cost about $50 per month from then on to replace parts and keep her in stock with plenty of juice. As far as I am concerned this is a big savings not only in money but my wifes health. I am a non smoker and have been trying for years to get here to quit. This seems to be the real ticket and I am stoked.
sorry if it was a long post, just had to get it said.

It also depends on strength I suppose. You probably vape 36 or 24mg, I vape 15-18mg.
yep..........24 and 36

I have spent $600 dollars in 6 weeks..........and would have spent $500-600 on analogs.

I know currently have 600 ml of juice stocked, very strong so I could also cut it. I have 6 510's and will be receiving 2 mini's thanks to drew at NHALER. I have a passthru, 2 pcc's,4 chargers,2 car adaptors and some flavorings a diy kit and a stack of bottles. I will soon mod my own for battery purposes and grab some extra atty's and empty carts. All in all i'm about $100 away from having a good year supply for 2 people..................of course that doesn't mean I'll be able to control my "gotta have it" syndrome.
