Can someone tell me which battery is better? Super t manufacturing has the red AW IMR 18650 1600mAH batteries for $9.99 and also the black AW 18650 3100mAH for $17.94. So do the black ones last longer? Do you have to use a spacer with them or a different charger? Why such a difference in price??

Thanks for any help,
Wicked

Super T actually just did a test run on the AW batts and they said the new 2,000 mAh was the best bat for the money.. More mAh should equal longer battery life, but with our application handling high amp loads is more important. I've been using the AW 1600's in 18650 mods and have never had one go dead in a full day of vaping. That's good enough for me. I charge my batts every day.

Ok I will try and explain in my limited understanding. Both batteries are labeled AW one is red with a nipple on the top (IMR), one is black with a silver label and a flat top. both are labeled 18650. The red one has a rating of 1600mAH, the black one has a rating of 3100mAh and is twice the money. I use the red AW IMR 2000mAH now and they last almost a whole day. I was just wondering if it was worth it to get the more expensive ones?

The black ones are not IMR they are protected....your Provari recommends IMR battery technology/chemistry batteries. Again, AW is just a name and nothing more. Also, the black ones have a protection circuit built in (protected) which the provari already has built into it. They are higher mah and more expensive but not better for your Provari. Stick with the 2000mah.

That explains No better than I did. :)

I use protected batts in my devices that don't have internal protection. For example, I don't use unprotected batts in my madvapes vv box. I fried the chip/board in my vv army tank because I was using the aw imr 14500 instead of protected batts.. I ran the voltage too high for the carto I was using. at least this is what I figure happened. when I used 3.7 box mods, I used the aw imr 14500s because they seemed to give more of a "kick" to my draw plus the voltage seemed to last longer before it began to drop off.

I forgot the black ones were protected.

The Provari also uses a buck/boost circuit. It pulses the battery to generate the voltage @ the carto/atty. IMR battery characteristics are better suited for this application. When dialed up to 5 or 6 volts, the pulses can be quite high. Standard L-ion batteries even rated higher may not be able to supply the higher current pulses. I found some good info here on their site...
