Can someone tell me which battery is better? Super t manufacturing has the red AW IMR 18650 1600mAH batteries for $9.99 and also the black AW 18650 3100mAH for $17.94. So do the black ones last longer? Do you have to use a spacer with them or a different charger? Why such a difference in price??

Thanks for any help,
Wicked

If you talk to David at SuperT he will tell you that the AW 18650 2600 mah protected battery is the best for a 3.7 device. He has done load tests on all the batteries and the 2600mah out performs the rest of the protected AWs, including the 3100mah battery.
Now if you have a VV such as a Provari then you need to use the AW IMRs to deliver the high amp draw that a Variable Voltage device requires..............

Great advice. You want a protected battery on a simple tube mod and a high drain imr on a vv such as Provari.

I say try one of these 2250 IMR's = http://www.callieskustoms.com/CalliesKustoms-Batteries.html everyone raves about AW and dont get me wrong there a great Batt, but these Panasonic are super too, possibly even better, and they do work in the Provari with the 1mm top, I'm getting super performance out of the Callies Kustoms since I've began using them.

just FYI i can't see any reason why that guy posted saying misinformation = bad news for batteries... while that IS VERY TRUE... it's only true IF there is misinformation posted.

info_on_boost{

everything in this thread is on the up and up and is quite correct. for any VV PV, you basically NEED to use an IMR style battery, because any PV that boosts voltage above the battery voltage is going to HAVE to use some sort of pulse modulated boost circuitry with an inductor/capacitor and high speed mosfet or similar switch. basically, it IS going to draw a ton of high current spikes in rapid succession in order to boost the voltage above the supply (battery) voltage.

this does NOT apply to the mods that put out whatever the battery voltage is equiv. to, but that allow you to stack batteries or you different types of batteries, thus giving you a few variable options.

it DOES apply to the mods that limit your selection options to just a few options, but that only take one battery, as these still boost the supply voltage, they just don't offer the range of options that the provari or others can/do.

i'm sure lots of people are using non IMR batteries in their chinatube/lavatube/knightrider PV, but really, you will get better performance out of IMR batteries on these units
