The e-Liquid Test!?

I have been vaping for a few months now. And I can truly say that it has saved my life by getting analogues out of my life once and for all! It has been a wonderful experieince, and I see why vapers have such passion about it.

But...

I know that the brain is craving nicotine and vaping delivers that to be sure. But has anyone with a chemistry background ever tested eLiquids from several different retailers to see what the actual amounts are in the eLiquids we all buy on a regular basis? We all see our bottles each day that say 18MG or 24MG, PG 70%/VG30% etc etc. But I wonder if most eLiquid makers and retailers actually deliver close to the strengths in nicotine that they are advertising? I wish they would explaoin their quality control and manufacturing procedures to give us consumers more confidence about the contents of what we are vaping.

Just some food for thought...?

I expect the nic levels are real close since that is added separately. I don't trust the PG/VG as much. Some flavorings are PG-based and some water-based and some with other bases, and flavorings sometimes need to be 10-20% of the liquid. And the nicotine can be in PG or VG. So (for example) if the mixing is done in a simplistic manner and the flavoring and nicotine are added to 70pg/30vg then what you end up with is not 70/30. Mixing can either be done with a calculator so the final ratio of the base is 70/30 or done the other way which will change the 70/30 to a somewhat different ratio.

Some vendors have also talked about (and perhaps did, I haven't kept up with it) having independent analysis of their products to prove they are putting in what they say they are.

As for the pg/vg, when I mix my own I make sure to count for the PG in the nic base I use, but the flavoring is going a bit too far for my level of caring. Even if it's off by a couple %, it's not that much to make me care, PG/VG mix is all about what level of throat hit and vapor production (as well as flavor) I'm looking for, the exact numbers are meaningless IMO.
