Has anyone else read the "The Essene Gospel of Peace" book 1?

In a nutshell it's where Jesus elaborates to the Essenes essential (life giving & sustaining - disease free) dietary & health laws ...(Even instructs them on how to fast and perform enemas/colonics.... how to properly prepare & bake bread... using the heat of the Sun!) I have Christian Friends who believe this to be 'another' Gospel, I, however, beg to differ but would love to hear other people's opinions. You can read the entire book here free; Peace Book 1

Eve, no offense meant to your friends, but I don't accept any alleged teachings about Jesus that are outside God's Holy Word. There are too many avenues for deception in this day and age. I believe Christians should read and study His Word, and His Word only, to grow strong in faith and wisdom. God Bless, and welcome back! :)

It is written:
John 16:13-15
13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

I agree T, followers must be careful in this day & age of deception. It's everywhere and I clearly see how it's permeated everything... especially the Church.... I've read this entire book and actually see nothing 'contradictory' to the teachings of the Holy Bible.... just some teachings the Bible didn't clearly expound upon, such as certain 'dietary' laws having to do with specifically 'what' we should eat, how we should properly NOT cook it.... Also colonics/enemas, and fasting for cleansing..... (which, according to many credible Health sources, actually scientifically 'do' what Christ says they will do when properly applied). I honestly believe the Holy Spirit has quickened to me that the 'evil' powers that be have actually 'used' original 'divine truths' and 'laws' that God originally gave to us and twisted them so that basically everything we've been 'taught' before now is exactly the opposite. Let me give you a couple of examples; In the Essene Gospel of Peace Christ teaches we should only eat 'once' a day, twice at most per day... and to eat only one to three food items at one sitting. Never does he advocate eating Breakfast, which we're taught, at least in this Country is the most important meal of the day... no, He teaches we shouldn't eat the first (or only) meal until NOON. We're taught the opposite.... that we should eat four to five times per day... to keep our blood insulin levels even and boost metabolism. We're taught 'fasting' is obsolete and no longer applies..... I mean, it just seems to me that this Book may actually hold some 'truths' that Satan (and the wickedness in high places) doesn't want us to know that could keep us well and able to walk closer with God.... because it's only when we do 'those' things do we become more powerful witnesses for the Gospel of Christ. INMO This Book doesn't preach 'another' Gospel ... it just 'instructs' us on what we must do to overcome the Devil and walk closer with God..... while also keeping ALL manners of diseases from us all the days of our Lives. IF Satan (and the evil powers that be) wanted to really 'slip us up' with a book like this, then HOW is he doing that by simple teachings (health related & dietary) that teach us how to better care for our bodies? There is a 'recipe' for Whole Wheat Bread that Christ is instructs step-by-step for the Essenes to make... using the 'Sun' to bake it.... I'm in the process of making mine now so I'll keep you updated as to how it turns out.... meanwhile, all around me, I see shows where Doctors are advising people to cut "Gluten... which is Wheat" from their Diets. Jesus calls Wheat the 'most perfect among all seed bearing herbs'... so WHY is the 'rest' of the World telling us it's bad for us?... and what's being sold as 'wheat' nowadays has been rid of essentially all it's nutrients.... so no wonder it's making millions ill. Has anyone considered that it's 'possible' that many books of the Bible have 'intentionally' been hid from 'us' (the followers of the last days), because there's an 'evil' conspiracy that wants to keep these truths from us?.... Keeping us diseased & ill so we're ineffective witnesses? Teaching that 'old age' has nothing to do with esteem and wisdom... but that we're just dry old bones and diseased ridden bodies and that's what we have to look forward to because that's the aging process and that's just the way it is. The AGED in this Country are treated with indignity and regarded as liabilities.... and that really shouldn't be so. I'm actually going to begin applying some of the health & dietary teachings of Christ that are in this book (for my own educational purposes). I honestly don't believe there's anything in this Book that can mess with my Salvation, so I feel free to investigate.... 'test' if you will. However, I love the input and if anyone sees any danger please expound and feel free to let me know :)

PS - For clarification purposes I'd like to state that my interpretation of 'another gospel' (or any gospel that is contrary to Gospel Message of the Holy Bible) would be anything that preaches anything other than 'Christ crucified' and it's on that basis, or premise, if you will, that I believe 'The Essene Gospel of Peace' does not fall within that classification of 'some other Gospel' or 'another Gospel'..... but that's just 'my' take on it and I would love to continue the discussion as I am so interested in Health & Wellness and believe that GOD did have a 'plan' to keep us well so that we could be strong spiritually & physically so as to be exemplary witnesses for Him throughout the ages.

The early Christians had a tough job compiling what we know as the Bible today. There were many writings, both of the Christian and pre-Christian eras, that they sifted through to determine which would make it into the canon of scripture. We've a heard of the "gospels" of Thomas and of Mary, the book of Enoch, etc. Councils convened, scholars argued, and by the early 300's they had decided on which books would be considered scriptural by all Christians. Why they chose certain books and left out others is a matter for other debates. Why include Titus and Philemon, for example? They're not very spiritually remarkable. The bishops meeting in these councils believed they were led by the Spirit and could not err in their judgment on what was scriptural and what was not. With the exception of some Protestant groups rejecting several Old Testament Kethuvim since the 1500's, that canon of scripture was pretty solid from very early on in Christendom. For this reason alone, I'd be skeptical of any "new" Gospel being brought up for consideration. The Church pre-dates the scriptures by quite some time. The Church made her decision and I feel we're bound by that.

That having been said, I could offer my amateur textual criticism of the book you linked. At even a casual glance the language used by the Jesus figure in the book in question is so far removed from that used in canonical scripture. It is a flowery, poetic language, written in a cryptic, gnostic style that just doesn't sound like the Jesus of the New Testament scriptural books. That would be my first red flag. The second is the subject matter itself. Jesus' words in the New Testament books, as well as the actions of his followers in the early days, were not focused on the here-and-now, but on life in the world-to-come. Some early Christians were so sure that Jesus' return was eminent that they vowed not to marry or have children. What a follower ate and drank (and his colon health) was not a pressing matter to those who were working out their salvation.

That's my two cents from a two-minute reading of the book. If you use it as a diet and find it makes you healthier, more power to you. I think it's a great big step to make it a new "Jesus Diet" fad and claim any spiritual benefit. I'll leave health class to health professionals, diet and nutrition to scientists, and leave the scriptures to the Church who wrote and compiled them.
